tid + bits

+What is up with me having awesome breakfasts lately? As I have mentioned on the blog before, I have been an active member of the Law Partners group at BYU this past year. This year is coming to an end, and I am going to be on the board next year! We all met up to learn about our responsibilities etc.... oh and to eat amazing crepes. There is ice cream inside that crepe people.... ice cream.

+Speaking of breakfast, isn't it funny how things change as we get older? During the week when I was younger my mother MADE us eat oatmeal for breakfast. I am talking Monday through Friday. We only got the "good" cereal on Saturdays. I absolutely despised it. Hated it with a passion. I would try and put as much brown sugar (as my mom would let me) in it to make it editable. Now as an adult, I love oatmeal :) I eat for breakfast almost every morning! Funny how things change isn't it?

+I am a list maker. I just like to write all kinds of to do lists, or little notes (hey I write little notes on my blog too! haha) to myself. Because of this you will find multiple loose papers all over my apartment, car, office, purse, you name it, there is probably an old, current and future list lying around (thanks mom for this habit!) While writing lists helps me stay organized, I decided I needed a better way to keep them all together (I tend to loose them because they are all loose) So I got this adorable little book to be used solely for my lists :) It is so pretty I have mixed feelings of wanting to use and then feeling guilty for writing on the pretty patterned paper! haha. Anyone else a list maker? Then you understand the immense satisfaction you get from crossing something  OFF your list :)

I might look like a bumble bee in this outfit (do you know how hard it is for me not to type bumbo bee -- go here if you want to know why) but I couldn't help but pull out these bright yellow pants of mine since spring seems to have arrived here in Utah!

I love this top. I wear it all the time. It is nice to have something comfy to wear when you are wearing high heels :) I like to balance it out. I love this top because of its relaxed fit, even though Trevor doesn't like it. He calls it my "flying squirrel top" because the sleeves are not defined and are connected to the whole of the shirt, haha. Just like a flying squirrel apparently.

And since when do we not wear something we think is cute because our husbands don't like it? Or do any of you let your husband's opinions dictate what you wear? haha I guess the truth lies somewhere in between! We all remember what Trevor thought of my high waisted jeans I got last year.

French Macarons!

Do you guys remember my Macaron Cooking Class Giveaway with Mercedes?! Well I invited two bloggers (Mandy and Savannah) over to my apartment to have a cooking class from the VERY talented Merceds. This was seriously one of the coolest things I have ever done, and I think that you all need to look into having her come over and teach you guys!

These green ones were my all time favorite... &not just because they matched my nail polish ;)
I learned that you are supposed to keep them refrigerated for a couple days for them to taste their best.... do you know how hard it was to resist eating them? It was SO worth it though! Perfect I tell you. Perfection. Mercedes has nailed these!

She is such a good teacher and you walk away with your own box of cookies and a mix to try it yourself at home. I think we made pretty good students, even though we talked alot, haha sorry Mercedes!

The Macarons turned out DIVINE. I didn't want to share much with Trevor... they were just SO good. I would love to do a class like this again with my sisters or something :) So fun! Check her site out for the mixes she sells, and more info on her classes Merceds White French Macarons.

On Fridays at my work we are allowed to wear jeans. I still like to feel like I am a bit dressed up even if I am wearing jeans. This is a little business casual look I threw together :)

Dear Candy Box at work,
Please stop screaming at me to eat something out of you, I am trying to be healthy throughout the week!! That is very inconsiderate of you.

Dear Fingers,
I am sorry you have to type all day long. I feel your pain, literally. How does one go about making sure they don't get carpal tunnel?! ouchie.

Dear Flour Girl,
Thanks a bunch of throwing flour on Kim Kardashian, finally some news about her that was slightly entertaining and interesting! hahaha :) Does this make me a bad person that I thought it was hilarious?

Dear Trevor,
Just stop trying to sing the part of "MooooOOOOoooves like Jaggar" because you just can't do it. Sorry hubbz, haha :)

Dear Self,
Try not to royally embarrass yourself at work. I know you spend all your time with your husband and your boss, but accidentally calling your boss "honey" and hoping he didn't hear you all to have him bring it up and make fun of you a couple days later is not what you want happening. SO EMBARRASSING! --- seriously, I was so red in the face after this.

Why do most of my instagrams seem to be of food? haha I do treat myself well on the weekends that's for sure. Trevor asked if I wanted an XL chili cheese dog, which sounded great after being at the gym for over two hours. But who knew the sucker would literally be the size of half a yard stick?! WOWZA. The next day Trevor got creative and made HOMEMADE Curry Soup. I was hesitant at first when he had me smell the fish oil that it called for, but it came out pretty great! The chicken and flavors came together very well.
I love that my husband loves to cook -- and that he is really good at it!
I guess point for him this week!

Find me.

Some tid bits of my life this week.

+Macaron lovelyness. How was I so late in learning about these wonderful cookies? I mean, I always knew they existed... but the plethora of flavors they have? I think it might just have to become apart of my life's mission to try every flavor of macaron that there is :) Yum. More to come on these lovely things.

+Girls MAC makeup night. Does it get much better then 50% off MAC make up? I think not. Yeah, that table didn't stay so neat and tidy after we were done with it.

+Sparkly nail polish on the ring finger. Deciding if I like this trend or not. I find that it looks good with some nail polish colors, and not with others. Still, it is a fun little element to your everyday nail polish... I mean, even my boss (a guy!) noticed it & complimented it, haha :)

+My wonderful German Pancake from Communal. Such great breakfast options! The Ladies Who Lunch first meet up was fun. Such a great group of ladies, can't wait to keep on going to them and learning more from these women!

four eyes.

After 7 months of wearing glasses, I have made a list of why being a new glasses wearer full time can really be annoying.

1. Hugging your husband and by habit nuzzling your face into the crook of his shoulder, totally forgetting you have glasses on, which thus causes glasses to get totally smushed.
2. On the topic of husbands, you totally can't make out in glasses. Not that we make out much (hint hint husband if you are reading this) but you know what I mean, those suckers get in the way, so not sexy.

3. Forgetting you are wearing glasses and going to rub your eyes. Almost broke them doing that one.

4. Trying to read a book in bed. I like to lean on my side and I switch sides depending on which page I am on.... is that weird or do you guys do that too? Anyways, you can't lay down on your side with glasses on, it smushes them up on one side which is very awkward, and not good for them.

5. Opening up the oven that is very hot, just to get your glasses covered in steam from the heat, blinding you for a moment. Well we are on that lets just add anything that involved steam, the bathroom, a hot cup of soup... you get the idea.

6. Forgetting you are wearing glasses when you get into the shower. Fail.

7. Having your eye itch and trying to get at it, all to hit your finger right on the glass.

8. Getting your hair stuck in the part where the glasses bend and ripping out your hair. I hate that!

9. Bending over while cleaning the toilet lovely visual I know and having them slip right off my head! Oh yeah, that happened!

Why can't I seem to remember I am wearing these darn things?! As fun as I thought wearing glasses full time would be, I mean come on, cute accessory 24/7... I am so over it.

Trevor's Birthday Cake.

 The cake the night before...
 The cake the morning after.

Trevor wanted to keep things low key for his birthday... what am I talking about... low key is all we do these days, because we are always so tired and busy?! haha Trevor told himself that he wasn't going to study at all on his birthday, but when I came home I found him doing homework, tsk. tsk. We did the usual pizza and a movie yadda yadda yadda, and we stretched the birthday throughout the entire weekend stuffing out faces with food we shouldn't have. We did that with mine too, how did we both get so lucky to have our birthday's on a Friday this year?! Love it.

Trevor is a huge fan of Reese's so I decided to make him a replica large cake version of one. A couple years ago I made him a burger cake, why am I so into making replicas of other foods into cakes? If I can say so myself, it was pretty incredible! This this is so rich and Trevor isn't sure how he is going to eat it all. Normally he could eat a cake all by himself, but this one he could barley get started into, it is just SO rich! He might be taking some to his Law School friends to have, haha.

I adapted the recipe (it was originally meant to make small little ones) so I learned some things if I ever make it again that I will do differently, but it still came out great! I didn't get a great a shot of it before (bad lighting) But you can see what it looked like the next morning after Trevor dug into it! haha
But he did say, and I quote "Wow Alycia, this is the best cake I have ever had!"
Did you hear read that? Best cake he has ever had. Point for me :)

Little Notes.

Top: Old Navy Jeans: Silver Boots: Steve Madden Necklace: Shop Kempt

Sometimes it is just a jeans and t-shirt kind of day! I like to be comfortable :) You can add a pop of fun to a casual look through a statement necklace, or through fun details in a simple design. For example, the two tone colors to my striped top is a fun detail that makes the shirt a little more exciting, can shirts be exciting? I think so :) These elements take a casual look, and make them a bit more polished.

Life's Little Notes...

Dear Jillian Michaels,
Your killer buns and thighs DVD has me wincing in pain every time I get up, sit down....or walk if I am being honest.

Dear Utah,
This San Diego girl appreciates one of your warmest winters ever (even if you did snow last night), if you keep this up, I would maybe, slightly, a little bit, but probably still not consider settling down here :) haha

Dear Mum and Dad,
Stop being so busy and gone all the time. I need you two to start answering your phones, I miss my daily chats!

Dear Avocados,
Why can I never seem to pick one of you guys that is good? I never get a ripe one, I follow all the rules, and still when I open you, you are usually bad. What gives?!

Dear Readers,
Thanks for much for wishing the hubberz happy birthday! I think he secretly enjoyed having a bunch of strangers wish him happy birthday :)

This weekend was spent eating way too much bad food! haha My "free day" turned into more like two or three! Birthday weekends will do that to ya! I guess I will just have to kill it at the gym this next week and keep eating healthy Monday through Friday :) Hope your weekend has been good so far... not really wanting Monday to show up yet. Why do the weekends go by so fast?! Why?!

Find me.

happy birthday hubberz :)

 My Trevor turns 27 today.
He isn't sure how he feels about turning 27.
I think it scares him to be closer to 30 then he has ever been before.

But I just wanted to take a moment here on this blog and celebrate this wonderful day and say...

My Trevor,
I love you!
I love you for so many, countless little and big reasons.
I can't wait to spend a lifetime more of birthdays with you.
Much Love,
Your little cutie.

tid + bits

Some tid bits of our life this week.

+ As mentioned before on the blog. Trevor grew up playing guitar. It is the "other woman" in our relationship. Trevor was worried he wouldn't get as much time to play it while he was in Law School, but he has seemed to find the time to at least play a little bit every day, even if it is during a movie we are watching or t.v. show... just the annoying aspect of being married to a guitar player, haha.

+I started a healthy eating plan last week, and have been loving it. My body responds so well to truly eating healthy (no sugar, low carbs). I have been starting each morning off with a Green Smoothie. I love it!

+Got my IPOD a cover. Trevor is on my IPOD more then me, so I hope he doesn't mind the iridescent glow it gets in the light... hasn't seemed to stop him from playing it haha.

+Love myself a good cup of Echinacea Tea. Ever since I can remember my mom has made us take echinacea tea and echinacea pills whenever we are feeling sick. There really is nothing better for your sore, dry throat then a cup of this tea. I have even got Trevor hooked on it now. Yum.

I love layering tops these days. It is a fun trend that lets you add a pop of color to what would otherwise be just a basic sweater.

Bringing back my Life's Little Notes...

Dear Back,
You are only 23 years old. Can you stop hurting every time you have to do anything?! I run and workout 6 out of 7 days, suck it up!

Dear Provo,
I swear everyone I know is pregnant. What is in your water here?!

Dear Little Bro,
On Monday you turned 21. I thought I was still 21? Where does the time go? I know you can't read this, but I am sending you some love via the internet. Can't wait to see you soon.

Dear Dishes,
Please wash yourself.

Dear Self,
Stop trying to drink water in bed. You know you will without fail have it spill all over yourself. Grab a water bottle like the hubz does, he is on to something there...

Dear Hubberz,
Thanks for all the hard work and effort you put into studying and school. I know it isn't fun, but I appreciate you always doing your best :) Love you!

snowboarding & cabin getaway.

A couple weeks ago we met up with Trevor's family to spend the weekend in a cabin and go snowboarding. It had been WAY too long since I had last been, so the next morning after going all day keeping up with Trevor is hard to do I was hurting. All in all I had a lot of fun, and it made me wish I took advantage of where we live and go more often, so I don't feel like I am re-learning every time I go.

The view from the cabin balcony :)
Trying to keep the windburn protected!
The beautiful afghan on my bed :)
Did you guys know my father-in-law makes THE best bacon I have ever had?
He is teaching me his ways!

While the trip was fun, I did come home with super sore muscles, and with a not so nice case of windburn on my face! Ah! Even with that, it was nice to do something fun for the weekend, sometimes you just need to getaway!

Plus, it was nice to get a whole day of snowboarding in alone with the hubberz, I don't get a lot of time with him like that these days because of Law School :) It was nice, &much needed.
