Times they are a changin'

So I think it is officially Fall weather here in Utah.
The trees are yellow, and there is constant sounds of crunch with every footstep.
For the first time since Spring while walking to and from school and work, I was pretty chilly.
By the time I went to my six o' clock class I needed a jacket. Not just any jacket, my thinsulate one!
This officially means I will need a jacket from here on out until probably Spring.

Despite the cold, I actually love fall here in Utah.
Growing up in San Diego, I didn't really see any seasons change.
There really isn't anything more beautiful in nature to me then a sea of yellows, reds, and browns.
--that could just be my fetish and obsession with the color yellow :)

But anyways, it is beautiful here.
I wish it would just stay, JUST LIKE this and NOT SNOW.
But alas I can not change the weather. I can however change my blog :)
The change in the air must have ignited me to get bored with my blog lay out
&give my space a face lift!

(Fall 2010... Not really sure what I am doing with my hands there! HA. &Trevor has food in his mouth, but I thought it was a "fall" looking picture and taken in the fall...so alas!)

Realize...

(Don't you wish we could all be as un-judgmental, loving and loyal as dogs?
Taken on the lake in St. George on Trevor's family boat summer 2009)

When I got engaged, someone actually told me that they thought that Trevor was just taking advantage of me. They thought since I was young, and Trevor was four years older then me, that I couldn't possibly be making this type of decision without the control, or power of an older man convincing me that this is what I wanted. Of course I took offense. I mean this person was actually telling me that they thought I was weak minded, and didn't have a choice in what I was doing. I mean the biggest decision in my life, &they thought I wasn't apart of it? What gets me is people judging. Yes, we all do it. We all judge. It is human nature. But how far do some people take it? Why do people think they know everything about everything, and everyone's situation? I might have an initial thought about someone or something, but I can step back and also say that I don't know the whole story. I am not seeing the whole picture. I am not that person, &I do not know how they are feeling or what they believe in.
The person who told me this, knew me very well. Which is why I think I let the comment hurt my feelings. How could this person think this about me? I really do agree with the quote that...

"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." -  Eleanor Roosevelt

Sometimes I seriously question why people say and do the things they do. I just don't understand them. They don't make sense to me, &while I am entitled to my own opinion, I also need to accept and realize that I don't know everything about the person, even if I think I do. This is easier said then done. But I am really going to try and work on giving people the benefit of the doubt. To realize as much as I would like to think I know everything...I don't. I am going to work on being open and accepting of others without judging them &on the flip side of that, not letting other people's judgments about me, bring me down, or keep me from being the person I am, and what I want to be.

Heading home...

This picture was taken at Wind and Sea beach in La Jolla a couple weeks before I left for my freshman year of college.

So today after work I will be getting in my car and driving down to San Diego! I am so excited, yet so sad at the same time, because Trevor isn't coming with me :(
I don't know why he does it to himself but he refuses to give himself a break for anything. He has been working so hard studying for the LSAT going to classes three times a week and doing extra studying every day. He also works full time. I begged him to come with me... but he says "he can't."
I wish he would do more for himself so he would be less stressed, silly boy! He hasn't taken any time off this entire summer! We did make two quick weekend trips to St.George for two of Trevor's friends weddings, but really only got to spend a day with his family... so two Saturdays of the summer doesn't really count as a "vacation."
This summer I took two classes and worked part time but since my classes have ended I have been working full time. I did get to go to Canada this summer to see my little nephew be sealed to his family. (I will finish blogging about that trip soon!) It  was a great trip, a lot of fun... but I wouldn't use the word "relaxing" to describe it. It was busy busy planned days, with a lot of family and babies, haha.
I have barley seen any of my San Diego friends since I went to school out of state, and then got engaged and didn't move back to San Diego for the summer last year. So I have not been home (with actual relaxing free spare time) to hang out with my friends from San Diego since the summer of 2008!
So excited would be an understatement! I am planning on hitting the beach a lot, sleeping in for once this summer (I have to wake up at 7am everyday for work) spend time with my family (my sister and my dad's birthdays!) see my friends &call/text my hubberz that I miss already! I am exited to do something relaxing for my last week of summer before school starts again... I feel like I just got out of school. Oh yea, I just did.
HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT LAST WEEK OF SUMMER!

Why Blog?

So I ended up getting a blog, after everyone in my entire family basically had one. But I didn't really ever use it. I would get complaints from my Dad, and my Grandparents about how I never posted anything, wrote anything, or updated about my life. It  wasn't really until after I got married that I really went into full swing of using it. I absolutely love to read my families blogs and see what is going on in their life's since I don't live so close anymore, and since then have found joy in reading all the different types of blogs out there! I have found so many little treasures by stumbling across people's blogs. I get so many ideas, and am so inspired by people's lives, art, ambitions, achievements, advice everything you name it. When contemplating making this blog private, I decided that I enjoy reading and gaining advice, inspiration, and ideas from all the blogs out there, that why not keep mine a place for that. I have enjoyed all  the friends I have made through the digital world, and I wouldn't mind keeping those types of connections going with other women out there that relate to me and my life. Ultimately I think Gordon B. Hickey's quote sum it up perfectly...

Although a blog sometimes shouldn't be as personal as a journal would be. (I still think people should have journals for those more intimate thoughts and experiences) It can be a place where friends and family and others can take a peek into the things that make you happy. Those experiences that have helped you, and could hopefully help others. Spread the Love.

Finals...

So after today I am "finally" done with finals! AH and I can't even enjoy it since I am doing some accelerated summer courses May and June... and those start up pretty quick. I have NEVER done summer school before ever, so this should be fun. I also need to get my eating back on track... during finals I tend to well, eat eat eat. Pizza, Milk Duds, Lemonade Mike and Ikes, Salt Water Taffy, Chips, Soda, Mucho Mango, Peanut Butter Lover's Reese's Pieces, Amazing Euros, Pizza Rolls...and on and on and on, you know all that comfort yummy sugar food to keep the brain flowing!! I think the gym is ready for me...

So amazing tasting, horrible for you food and super cute pencils, is how I get through Finals :)

Our Search Story

I am sure some of you have seen that cool commercial Google did on a Parisian Love. It is sooooo cute. If not go check it out here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnsSUqgkDwU
Although not nearly as long, or as cool, they have made it so you can make your own search stories! I love it. So I decided to make one of my own. I couldn't resist and did a search story on me meeting Trevor...

-->

I moved to Salt Lake City as a transfer student to the University of Utah.
I met Trevor at a beginning of the school year BBQ, I remember the biggest impression I had was, “Wow this guy has long hair.”
At the end of our first date he took me to a studio and played guitar for me, and tried teaching me how to play drums and guitar.
After that we pretty much never stopped hanging out.
I Love You’s were exchanged, and we became Trevor and Alycia Crowley on August 11, 2009, when we were married in the San Diego Temple.

Feel Good Anyway...

So Trevor is leaving me for the weekend. He has a Jazz competition in Reno. I can't come because the school is paying for their transportation and hotel rooms, and he has to share a room so it would be pointless for me to make the trip alone and stay alone in some hotel room... oh well.
This is only the second time since we have been married that we will be apart from each other for more then 24 hours :( The first time totally and completely sucked, so who knows how this time will be. At least this time he will only be gone for the weekend and not 5 days! I better get used to it because I am sure the future will bring many more times where we will be separated. I always thought people were lame for being so complainy when their spouses left for a bit... like "hello, it isn't that big of deal!" And well, I guess it isn't that big of deal... but now that I am married I totally understand. Your life just ISN'T the same for the time that he is away. Life just isn't as great when you don't get to see them, your day just isn't quite right.
Anyways, I shall survive. I have enough studying to do with finals coming up, and I really need to work on not stressing myself out. A couple months ago I got really worked up and stressed out about mid-terms and school and ended up having some actual physical consequences and problems because of it. I had always heard stress can really affect your body, but never really fully believed it. Well I totally do now. So I have been working on not stressing myself out. Doing all the stress relieving things. The past month it really has helped, and my issues went away. I just don't want them coming back again, and with finals coming up I can feel me starting to worry about tests and final assignments. So I am just going to breath, relax, focus, stay in control, haha.
One thing I did this week was pick some BEAUTIFUL tulips we have growing out in our front yard. I read that plants can help with stress, and I really do love having fresh beautiful flowers around. They just make you happier. Can you believe these are all over our neighborhood? I Love it. I also read that people who own dogs have healthier hearts and less stress (This information when related to Trevor did NOT help in my attempts to get a puppy...) So this weekend I am going to stay calm about school and life, not stress out. Hang out with a girlfriend (Lauren, so EXCITED!) to keep my mind of missing Trevor, and get started on some Finals and end of the semester projects. I CAN DO IT!
Hope everyone has an amazing weekend :)

ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND!

CROW-LEE

So I am getting a little annoyed. Ever since I got married people always say my new last name wrong. Trevor said to get use to it, that most people do. But it just bugs me, &I feel like I am being petty or rude if I ever corrected them, so now there a bunch of people out there at church etc. who really just keep on saying it wrong. So I thought I would make it simple. CROW (Like the bird) LEE,
Crowley. We get it? Good.
Now speaking of Birds. Have you all seen that movie Failure to Launch? With Jessica Sarah Parker and Zooey Deschanel? You know throughout the whole movie how Zooey has to deal with this mocking bird that is living outside their apartment window and WONT shut up? &later in the movie she goes and buys a gun &shoots the mocking bird... WELL Someone better stop me from getting Trevor's shot gun! There is a Woodpecker that has decided to come by our window and peck away on this wood post oh just every morning around 7:30 (before I wake up) TO WAKE ME UP! For at least an hour...seriously. It isn't some cute bird sound with chirping or anything.... it is the loudest pecking sound! Ahhhhhh...
Speaking of waking me up... we can hear everything from our neighbors. The neighbors above us and the one next to us. See we live in this huge old mansion house that has been divided up into 5 apartments. So we share walls with three other people. One guy is really quiet lives on his own. There are bunch of college boys above us who we always hear because their stairs are right above where our bedroom is... lovely. But the worst is this other lady.... she is a piano and voice teacher and her piano shares a wall with our bedroom wall (NOT FUN WHEN TRYING TO TAKE NAPS! esp. when the piano player or singer... well sucks.) Besides hearing her late night date nights when guys come over at, oh just 1 in the morning, the other night me and Trevor get into bed and all of sudden we both go... "What is that? Is that snoring?" Yes. The lady had some dude spend the night and he was snoring, and we could hear him! IT WAS SO LOUD! I couldn't believe we could actually hear it through the wall into our room. AH I want out of this apartment.
Sorry for the complaining... but all this noise is driving me crazy. I am loosing sleep... which is probably why when I got back my Advanced American National Government Midterm paper I saw I wrote Jim Choo instead of John Yoo... WOW. Either I was sleep deprived or couldn't stop thinking about shoes, not really sure!

Eight Months...

Is it just me or does time go by WAY fast when you are married? I mean I really do feel like me and Trevor only have been married a couple months, when really it has been eight, and before you know it, it will be our one year. It really does just go right on by. What to say about being married? I love it. I love Trevor. Everyday just gets better and better and more exciting. He loves me so much. Now enough with the cheese. I decided why not share some of my favorite memories of the day.
Trevor is not big into being overly affectionate in public, you know PDA? He just doesn't think it is for everyone to see, &we all know what he means, we have all seen "those people" you just want to go "get a room." Trevor is also not the biggest romantic on this planet, he is the "tough" guy. No crying, doesn't talk about his feelings too much, you catch my drift?
Well on our wedding day Trevor couldn't keep his hands off me! It was a side I had never seen of his before because on this day, at that moment, he could care less if the world saw him grab me and make-out with me. People who were at our wedding will recall he almost took me to the grass in front of the temple he was kissing me so passionately! I was shocked, stunned and totally loving it. We were just so happy, so in love, so elated. How could we not be like that on our wedding day? I will also never forget when we knelt across the alter in the temple. I looked at him and his eyes were tearing up, another thing you don't see Trevor do. I was trying so hard not to cry (you know the make-up and all) but when he said "Yes." It just came a flowing! It really was the most amazing perfect day. I only wish we could just spend every day like that. Forgo school and work and obligations to spend kissing and exchanging sweet words all over San Diego in the sun and celebrating with our friends and family. I felt complete in my life, a joy I have never experienced before.

Like a scene from a movie...

So I have had a rough couple weeks. Just everything that could go wrong HAS. I don't even want to start into the details because I have already complained enough about it all. Anyways, after another crazy day yesterday and finally getting done with all my homework and things that needed to get done I got into bed at 12:30AM. I woke up randomly at 5:30AM for some reason I could not sleep even though I wanted to. I knew all I needed to do was get through the day and I was done for my week, since tomorrow I only have one class then work, and I know I can relaxxxx. Even though it was bright an sunny this morning I just felt like I should grab my umbrella.... I could not find it anywhere! I looked for about 15 mins and was not about to be late for class and since it was sunny I just left. Well... finally done with my day, ready to go home I walk outside and within seconds it starts raining. It was light, so I wasn't too worried. Well it then started pooring. I don't have a hood on my nice peacoat, I actually DID my hair today since I couldn't go to sleep I got up and did it, I wore my brand new boots for the first time today, Oh and to top it off I was wearing a skirt. OH and it got better, within seconds of the pooring it turned to HAIL. Which then came down so hard I honestly was almost in tears from the sharp stinging pain it was causing on my head, and poor exposed knees. While during this painful walk home, I was trying to keep my skirt from pulling a Marilyn Monroe and exposing my goodies to the world. The suddenness of this whole hail storm was straight out of a movie. That and it was of course what would happen to me at the end of my horrible two weeks. To be honest, I am just glad it is over. But I was mourning my new wet boots. I hope the leather will be okay. As for me, my hair will dry, and I will start all over again on Monday. When do things get easier?? I just hate when life throws you into these slumps.

Energy Drinks...

So I grew up not drinking a lot of soda, and when I did have soda I never drank anything with Caffeine. I can't thank my parents enough for this because it has given me the habit of just really avoiding soda (one huge factor in the obesity problem today.) Soda is just SO bad for you... anyways we all KNOW that, but people will still drink it. Anyways one thing that just seems 10 times worse then a soda are energy drinks. I know people who are just addicted to these things. Well Trevor, whenever he has a big night on his hands of studying or of homework and he is mega tired already he get an energy drink. I have always wondered what it would be like to be tired and drink something that makes me perk up and get some energy, and be able to accomplish more in my day. Well I had two midterms this week, I have some more later, but this week things really started to pile on. I got really overwhelmed, and... really really tired. So I thought what the heck? Why not try one? Of course I got a sugar free one, I mean heck why not try something that is at least slightly healthier right? So I tried Sugar Free Red Bull...
Well. I am not sure what it was. The fact that my body has never taken
in THAT much caffeine in my entire life, the fact that I my body is a total wimp pansy,
or if I am letting my brain get to me from all I know about how bad these things are for you...
but either way something happened.

Within the first 3 gulps and 10 minutes I felt like I was going to throw up, and I got a really weird burning feeling in my chest. This burning lasted the WHOLE rest of the night and I couldn't even get myself to finish it. As of the energy... I did feel like a I got a little more energy. I probably could have felt it more if I had decided to finish drinking it. All I know is, my body DOES not like Red Bull... and I am going to assume it wont like any other energy drink either. I always knew how bad they were for you, I can't believe I let the stress of school and work and my life get me to try one.

All in all, I am totally done with the curiosity about these drinks.

Um Yea...

So I kind of think I HAVE to have this...

I mean come on? Yellow. Cooking. YES PLEASE.

I think I would make some form of baked goods every day if I had one of these to look at in my kitchen :) Doesn't it just make you happy?

Incredibly embarrassing day at work…

So it doesn't get much worse then what just happened at work today. So here I am sitting at my computer, everything is going just dandy and fine, when all of a sudden my computer starts acting a little crazy. I keep seeing this virus warning popping up and I can't figure out what it means or what to do. Before I have anytime to really do anything about it, two girls come in to get their w2 forms that I am in charge of handing out to everyone. I ignore the computer to help these to young ladies. Once I am done I turn around to figure out what is going on with my computer when all of a sudden to my horror there is a porn site up on my computer PLAIN AS DAY! Yes you heard me right, a PORN SITE!! I FREAK out, try to click out of it and all the other stupid pop ups that are coming up and it is so bogged down I can't do it fast enough I just hit the shut down button to get rid of it as soon as possible. OH MY GOSSSSSH! Did that really just happen? So then I am wondering "Holy crud, did those girls see it on my computer? Am I going to get into trouble? Can they see what I look at on my computer?!" I am just freaking out... when all of a sudden this guy walks in pulling a big thing of computers in with him, and says "I am going to need you to turn off you computer, I am taking it." Oh NO, it was like someone had paged him the second this happened and said come take the computer away from her! I told him that he must be psychic because my computer had just gone crazy with some virus and I had just shut it down. He then asked me what I had been looking at.
pause.
pause.
pause.
(THIS can NOT be happening right NOW)
But I knew I just had to tell the truth as dumb and lame as it sounded. So I told him I had been reading a blog when all of a sudden the computer got really really slow and was popping up virus warnings. I told him I turned to help someone and when I returned back to my computer there was a porn site up! I quickly explained that I do NOT look at porn at work. Then I realized that didn't sound exactly right either and quickly also stated that, or at ALL for that matter. He quickly replied with... "Yeah sure, that is what they all say."
Then he started laughing and told me not to worry that he came up here in the first place because a bunch of the Library's computers had obtained a virus, and that I wasn't the only one.
I did NOT appreciate his joke. I was horrified, and still am. I told him that I really don't look at porn and that he can check my history to prove it, but he kept assuring me that he understood and this has happened on multiple computers this week.
Knowing that it has been happening to multiple computers doesn't really make me feel that much better....I am still pretty embarrassed &traumatized. ugggggh. so awkwarrrrd.

21 YEARS.

So today is my 21st Birthday... CRAZY! Time sure does fly right on by. I remember when I first got my driver's license and seeing it say 21 in 2010.
I use to think where I would be in my life and what I would be doing. But it all just seemed so far away.

But here I am...
I never thought I would be married by 21. But I am so happy where I am today, the person I am becoming, the person I am with, the things I am doing with my life. I just can't wait for what more of an amazing life I could possibly have.

You never think life can get better then "this" but 21 years so far has pleasantly surprised me.
I can't wait to make each year better then the next :)

Hope you all have a good rest of the week &weekend!
I will be enjoying myself and spoiling myself

Groundhog Day!

Groundhog Day although overlooked by many has always been a holiday (if we can call it a holiday) that I look forward to. I always love it because it is a fun little celebration that happens right before my birthday! Normally I haven't really had to care about what Punxsutawney Phil's prediction would be, but now that I live in Utah, and somewhere that actually experiences a real winter (unlike good ol' home of San Diego) it kind of matters to me what he has got to say about how much more winter I have to endure.... Unfortunately this year Phil saw his shadow :( which means 6 more weeks of winter. Oh well at least I have my birthday tomorrow to keep my mind of the bad news!

P.S. This movie is one of the best movies. It is a classic on my list.
Of course it is so great mainly to do with the fact that Bill Murphy is in it.
Seriously watch it... great laughs, great message &a fun tradition to start
by watching it on Groundhog Day every year :)
