some glitter, some glue, some crazy times too...

You guys, I really don't know how I got so lucky. Since moving to Provo I have met some of the most amazing girls! I know I have made some lifelong friends with these women. The other day the wonderful and witty Amy (aka long lost sister) invited a bunch of us over for a little holiday crafts night, only requirement? We had to wear our pajamas... of course that wasn't going to be a problem for me. I LIVE in my pajamas if I can :) Of course when I showed up I was the only one who took the pj's requirement seriously, haha - story of my life.

Kelsey looking like Edward Scissor Hands with some of Narwhal Horns :) haha

Did I mention that Amy's house is pretty much a little girl's Christmas heaven?! Um yeah, simply adorablness at every turn! Thanks for the great night Amy!

pearls.pearls.pearls.

I found another way to make an easy necklace like the one I did out of my bracelet! You basically do the same thing, except this one was made with two strands of long pearls. It has been fun playing around to see all the different kinds of necklaces you can make doing this with all other kinds of jewelry. Have you guys tried doing this yet?

Vintage Brooch Headband.

So I have another easy way to use two different items to create something new.
The past couple years headbands have become so much fun!

What you need:
Brooch/Pin (I am sad because I use this brooch all the time &just noticed it had a missing stone. bummer!)
Soft headband (so that it can pin through.)

What to do:
Secure the brooch or pin onto a headband to create a fun new piece for your hair :)

If you want to make it more permanent you can always glue the brooch or pin onto the headband. You could even use multiple smaller pins etc. to cover the whole headband and really glitz it up! ENJOY.

what's old is new.

I love the direction jewelry has taken the last several years. Instead of just the cookie cutter pieces you could pick up at different department stores, jewelry has evolved into something so much more creative! I am constantly seeing new innovative ways to wear things. While I was home at New Years I was rummaging through the drawers in my old bedroom. I still have odds and ends left in that room, and stumbled across some old jewelry I had from the pre-teen years. I found this fun bracelet made of different colored bobble balls. Then I thought about how I could possibly turn it into a necklace.

So here you all go, an easy peasy way to turn an old bracelet into a necklace...

Bracelet Necklace

What you need:
 1. Bracelet that has two open hooks/holes on the end of it.
 2. Ribbon (whatever size you prefer, mine was a thicker ribbon.)
 3. Scissors.

What to do:
Do I even really need to explain this? Well here you go...
 1. Make sure bracelet is unlocked from hook.
 2. Take ribbon and weave through one loop (my ribbon was thicker so I folded it in half)
 3. Make it as long as short as you like, and then cut. Take this piece and create another strand  of   ribbon to equal length.
 4. Loop each strand of ribbon through a loop at the end of each bracelet.
 5. Put the now necklace around your neck and tie a bow with the ribbon to secure the necklace

 VOILA!

&the beauty of it is, you can still take it apart and use your bracelet if you want to. This could be a good thing to try with multiple pearl necklaces for example!

Pretty little things...

I absolutely LOVED my wedding Bouquet! It was everything I had ever wanted it to be. The colors, the types of flowers, its perfect little ball shape and silk wrapped-pearl pinned self :) It was one of my favorite elements of the wedding.
With that said, I stumbled across these beauties the other day and had to pick my jaw up from the floor. How unique and beautiful are these?! She has so many, and there all special and different. If I was getting married again, I would heavily consider having one of these. I mean how BEAUTIFUL can you get? Seriously. &what I also think is really cool about these Wedding Brooch Bouquets is the fact that you can keep them forever. What a wonderful keep-sake? &If your grandmother has some cool brooch jewelery you could even add some pieces to it &make it even more special *swoooon*
Go take a gander at all the beautiful options she has created.

I think this one would have suited my wedding perfectly :)

"Make do and Mend."

I will never forget one day my senior year, driving in the car with my mother when all of a sudden she bursts into tears. In a state of shock I asked her what was wrong. Amongst her sobs she continued on about how she was a horrible mother because she never taught me how to really sew, amongst a list of very "womanly pioneer things." Melt my heart. She is so sweet. I told her it didn't really matter because even if I did know how to really sew {minus the button here and stitch there} I really probably wouldn't use it much seeing we live in a time where most things are just cheaper to buy. This didn't really ease her guilt, but if it makes her feel better, she did try to teach me to sew and other things. I just wasn't very willing. I picked up cross stitching but got frustrated with it and stopped. I remember my Nana trying to teach me something with some needles and little plastic tube thing... and it didn't stick. I helped my mom make some pillow cases, so I sort of learned the working of the sewing machine. But in the end it was up to me and I just, didn't want to learn it. Well now that I am older there are some things I really wish I had learned while I had the time too.

The past is the past and now that I am older I do have a desire to learn how to sew, and quilt. {see mum, now I want to and will learn someday, it is all okay!} For now I may have to wait until I have some more time but I have decided I WILL learn how to do some basic sewing and essentials.
So mum, you didn't fail :)
And whenever I get my first sewing machine, I may just have to frame this
cute picture and put it above it... I mean too cute.

p.s. remember how I said I wanted to expand my pallet with Sushi? Well me and Trevor bought this platter of Sushi for a great deal at Costco, and I tried some new Sushi....&loved it. Yay yay yay.

Plate Wall.

I have seen this around some blogs and other design shows, and I am kind of really into the idea of a free flowing plate wall as quirky decor!
If someday I have a house with a nice open wall that needs something, I would love to be able to pull this off.

Does it seem like too much? I think if you had a strong color to tie into all of them it would look really cohesive and interesting.

I guess I need to start going into little antique stores and grabbing some cheap old plates to put together. HOW FUN!
{p.s. I am absolutely jealous of the daisy plate in left picture. love love.}
