If you didn't notice, I recently got myself some eyebrows! Now let's rewind here a little bit. I have always had platinum white eyebrows since I came out of my mama. I hardly ever waxed them or shaped them, because you couldn't see them.
Ever since I started college I have had people telling me they want to do my eyebrows for me, tell me how BADLY I needed them. After I started working at the Aveda Institute, I was hearing this almost on the daily. Then there were people on the internet criticizing them as well. I finally caved in and let someone do them at work. I just didn't like them at all. I couldn't get used to seeing them on my face. I felt like I looked so different. I talked about the experience on my YouTube awhile back.
Last month I had the opportunity to attend a fun mini makeover night hosted by Michelle Money, Laura Armstrong (MM&L Show), and Corrine from Mint Arrow in honor of the new make up launch from Cara, MaskCara. It was SUCH a fun night. Imagine a bunch of ladies coming together to get all beautified, play with make up, wax, eat, the whole works. Of course once Michelle saw my eyebrows she demanded that Laura do them for me. Obviously I was hesitant with previous experiences, but since everyone kept going on and on about how Laura was the queen of eyebrows, I figured if I was going to try again the time would be NOW.
She was incredibly meticulous, and everyone kept raving about them while I was just laying there letting these women alter my face. Once I was done everyone couldn't believe how much they had changed my face. Everyone seemed to LOVE them. So I looked in the mirror.
These are the thoughts I had...
"Well, this is different."
"But I don't hate it."
"I like the color she used."
"The shape of these are bomb."
"Maybe I could get used to this?"
THE DAY AFTER...
"Still different."
"I look like I don't even need to put any make up on."
"These kind of make me look older, but in the good kind of way. Like, SEXAAAYYY."
"Seems like everyone loves my new eyebrows... there must be something to this, but what?"
"I think I like them... do I dare admit this?"
NEXT DAY...
"I am getting used to these. I like them."
"Well darn it, now I have to add ANOTHER element to my beauty regime. These eyebrows are here to stay."
"I feel so high maintenance now."
"Does this mean I have to learn how to pluck?!" :(
Just thought I would document the difference for you! SHABAM!
The beautiful ladies who put this shin dig on!
Vivan was there to do all of our makeup with Cara's new MaskCara HAC pack! She is hilarious and obviously good at her job! She is a true artist.
All these gorgeous images were taken by Shannon Elizabeth Photography. She was so down to earth, and obviously has a talent, you should probably check her out ;)
Seriously, the night was so much fun! I wish I could have taken you all with me to experience it all :) Stay tuned for a new YouTube video with a MaskCara HAC pack tutorial and review. I can't begin to tell you how cool this is, and I am so excited for Cara and her new makeup line!

ReplyDeleteYou've always been gorgeous, but holy cow that small change made such a huge difference! You look like a hotter version of Kaley Cuoco! They frame your face perfectly! My eyebrows are super thin, so there's nothing there to pluck or wax, so I've never gotten them done. I've always just filled them in myself. You are totally my inspiration to go have a pro work their magic on me!!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the eyebrows! You're making me want to dye mine... :)

The new brows make your eyes pop. You look absolutely stunning!
ReplyDeleteEyebrows change your life. I have darker ones than you, but the day I started filling them in I stopped by my mother's house. She immediately told me I looked much more pulled together. That was the only thing I'd changed since I wear minimal makeup. I think you look fab my dear!!!

ReplyDeleteAnd it was super funny - I had seen this video on Cara's blog a week or two ago, and when I saw you, I was totally like, "Hey! That's Alycia!" :)
Love the eyebrows! They look amazing! And how fun to hang out with Michelle Money. I've always thought she seems like a genuine and fun person.
ReplyDeleteI have dark eyebrows, but I usually pluck them myself. They never look really great though, and I don't go to get them waxed professionally because the last time I went (years ago!) the oil they put on afterward made me break out like crazy!! But this post makes me want to give waxing another shot! Your brows make you look fabulous :)
ReplyDeleteAlycia! How do I go about getting this done to my eyebrows?! I am in the same boat as you and would love to get mine done! Please let me know! 801-512-7724
