Utah State Fair

We took Ella to the Utah State Fair! Put together a little family vlog to document. It was so fun to see her experience baby animals and fair food for the first time. She also had lemonade for the first time and she became obsessed, OOPS! haha ❤

Ella's Newborns - Lindsay Olsen Photography

I had the pleasure of working with Lindsay again for Ella's newborns. You may remember the gorgeous maternity photos she did with me! Lindsay's specialty is newborn photography, and her images have such a warm romantic feeling to them. They really are beautiful and I love that I have these images of Ella when she is so new. Lindsay's studio has everything you could imagine and she knows what she is doing. She handled Ella perfectly, and had every prop, headband, you could ever want or imagine... you honestly just have to show up! These photos will be cherished keepsakes in our family for generations I am sure :)

More adorableness after the jump!

The Baby Cubby Pop Up Shop Event

Back in July I saw a post about a one stop shop for all your favorites for baby items called The Baby Cubby. They were having a pop up event, and it was going to be a party with discounts on all your favorite baby brands. Of course expecting my little girl, I was pretty excited to go. I called up my other pregnant friend Lisa and we met up for a night of shopping. And shopping we did! I ended up walking away with some pretty adorable loot, all from the brand Little Unicorn. I had been obsessed with Little Unicorn from the beginning days of my pregnancy when their adorable swaddles started popping up everywhere on instagram and I knew I wanted to get some things from them. Thankfully The Baby Cubby was an actual store front I could go to, to see the items first hand and not have to pay shipping! I was pretty stoked. They even had my favorite Nena & Co. bags there for those who have ever wanted to see those before they purchase one. They really just have everything, Freshly Picked Moccs, Puj, the list goes on and on. They have an entire wall of Petunia Pickle Bottom diaper bags! Once I was there I was introduced to tons of other amazing brands as well. Basically this place is Mom heaven!

So here is what I walked away with... and yes I got a little crazy, I couldn't help myself! I got a pack of swaddles, a poppy quilt, and this diaper bag! I really needed a diaper bag that was a little nicer for those occasions like Church or a wedding. I wanted something that looked like a purse but that was still totally functional as a diaper bag. I LOVE THIS ONE, and will probably do a full review of it another time! The patterns for the swaddles and quilts are just to die for and I couldn't resist snatching some up.

Everyone working the event was so nice and of course I ended up chatting it up with all of them before I left. I tend to make people my friends, they don't have a choice ;) haha When they told me about another pop up event they had coming up, I of course had to share the details because I really had such a good time at the last one, and I know you guys here in Utah would enjoy it! And this one is going to be even bigger from the sounds of it! Grab a girlfriend and make a night of it :)

Lake Blanche Hike Big Cottonwood Canyon

I have never fully taken advantage of the fact that I live in the beautiful State of Utah. I am surrounded  by some of the most gorgeous landscapes there are and it is literally in my back yard. One day while talking about this with my co-workers we agreed we all wanted to start hiking more, and right there on the spot decided we would go that weekend. It is always nice when you love the people you work with, and I have always seemed to really luck out in that over the years. So me and my two friends Sarah and Alix met up and hiked to Lake Blanche located in the Twin Peaks wilderness area of the Wasatch Mountains. It was such a gorgeous hike! Not going to lie though, it totally whooped my butt. It is a six mile hike and takes about two and half hours to get to the lake, so I was pretty exhausted and sore after! The mountains and canyons in Salt Lake are beautiful and I feel lucky that we get to live so close to such beautiful outdoors. I look forward to enjoying them for years to come.

Midway Ice Castles

While I often dream of the sunny warm days my friends and family enjoy in San Diego almost year round, there are some really special and magical things about Utah's winters. You just can't deny how breath taking it all is. I wake up to views of the majestic Rockies right in my backyard!

A few weeks ago Trevor and I went to explore the Ice Castles in Midway. They are created

Sundance Film Festival

Back in January Trevor and I finally did something we have always wanted to do. We went up to Park City during the Sundance Film Festival. We went with some friends and just enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the city, stopped in a few parties and shops, all while checking out the film selections for the night on the nifty Sundance Film Festival App. You really have to love technology these days!

We had dinner at a historic spot called the No Name Saloon. The vibe of this place was electric! It was full of so many antiques and fun odds and ends. You could explore for days! I guess that is what you get with a saloon that has been around since the Alamo. There were SO many people there! Thankfully the line wasn't too long, and we somehow managed to get a table with some friendly strangers. We enjoyed the night just talking and par-oozing through town. Pretty cool to think we have such a fun national event right here in our backyard.

Oh and the only celebrity that was spotted was Mr. Redford himself, the man who started it all. While he is great and all I am just sad I didn't see miss Blake Lively and her hubby Ryan Reynolds, you know, since they were in freakin' PROVO literally down the street from our apartment over Christmas break... how do I miss these things?!

I spotted some Banksy art while walking down the street and got so excited :)

a fall football game...

Saturday morning I woke up to a call from my little brother Alex. He had an extra ticket to the Utes football game and was wondering if I wanted to come with him. Did he even really need to ask?!

It was so much fun to go back to my Alma Mater and driving into Salt Lake City brought back a rush of memories. I drove by the spot where Trevor and I first met! Where he proposed, where we went to school and where we first lived together as husband as wife. Oh Salt Lake City and especially the University of Utah will always hold a special and dear place in my heart.

The trees were yellow, the weather was just brisk enough for a sweater and everyone was buzzing with excitement. If there is one thing the University of Utah knows how to do right, it is football. Swarms of red, tailgate parties, chants and cheers - a total experience!

Alex and I had hit up a tailgate party where Red Robin was providing all the food, and tons of prizes and games were being played. I won a Utes beanie and a flag that I was very excited about :) haha

The game was fun to watch with my brother and his friends, and we dominated - a landslide win of 49 - 6. The adrenaline was high, and it was just a perfect text book afternoon. Thanks Alex for thinking of me and inviting me - LOVE YOU! &Go UTES!

pioneer day.

July 24th is a state holiday here in Utah. For what you may ask? Well on July 24, 1847 the first group of Latter-day Saints settled into Salt Lake City, after being forced from Nauvoo, and other states on the East coast because of religious persecution. It is pretty cool to celebrate something that I know my ancestors specifically were apart of.

But to be honest, I didn't even know this holiday existed until I moved to Utah... haha does that make me a bad Mormon? The first year I moved here I was headed to work and they had shut down practically all the streets in Salt Lake City! I was late for work because I had no clue what July 24th was here in Utah, and that I would need to be prepared for alternative routes haha.

It is pretty much like the fourth of July all over again! Parades, fireworks, rodeos... the whole nine yards! This year my parents and little brother Alex happened to be in town looking for housing for him since he will be coming back to the University of Utah in the fall (Go Utes!) so we got to spend the day with them, which was a real treat :)

There just so happens to be a a replica little Pioneer village in a park across the street from mine and Trevor's apartment, and there was a big festival going on. We thought it was the perfect opportunity to finally check the little village out.

We had fun walking around and going through the houses and reading about the history of the first settlers there. It was getting pretty hot so we ended the day at our favorite local shaved ice place... I mean, shaved ice, ice cream, and condensed milk... if that doesn't spell out summer, I don't know what does.

A fun day with family and friends.

Yes. My husband doesn't do his hair, and walks around in public with giant holes in his clothes... what can you do?! haha
He doesn't care what people think!
My Dad was a  Metallurgical Engineering Major (Basically the study of the Periodic Table for those of us not so smart haha) for his undergraduate degree. He likes to joke around that, that makes him a modern day blacksmith, so we thought this picture was perfect for him :)
Alex and Trevor having fun on the stilts :) haha

A typical face from Alex :)
And of course, it wouldn't be a picture of me and Trevor if he wasn't squinting in it! haha

Christmas time has arrived...

I don't really like Ginger Bread Cookies so I ended up using mine and Trevor's Look A like Cookies for Christmas Decorations. Before I left home for Christmas me and Trevor took a walk around Temple Square where they had everything lit up and it was beautiful! I love Christmas.

I got home and got to start seeing some friends from home, yay! Me and Nicole went out to catch up, and of course me and Jamie got into some trouble too.

The Holy War

Here is a picture of people ready to rush the field before the game was even over! People were even jumping out of the stadium seats onto the field, im sure someone broke something. the cops were trying to stop people but there were way too many people. Waiting in that line was worth it to watch and experience such a crazy game! But to be honest, i wished it had been more exciting, because it wasn't even close, it was a total blow out! UTAH UTES WON!!!! CREAMED is probably a better word. BYU was pretty upset, i had heard about the rivalry before but experiencing it was very different. A fist fight broke out right in front of me! We had great seats too really close to the field it was awesome!

A SEA OD RED! After the streets were full of red and the town again couldn't go to sleep, Winning this game was huge for two reasons, we beat BYU our biggest rivals also known as "The Holy War" and it meant we were still undefeated and would be going to the BCS Bowl!!! EXCITING times here in Salt Lake City.

Trevor missed the "turn around and smile memo" haha.

Don't Play With Fire....

Well today me Trevor and a bunch of his friends all went out to the middle of nowhere and shot guns and blew things up and lit things on fire! Sound safe eh? haha, anways it was alot of fun, but very cold. Anyways i was alot better at shooting then i thought i was going to be, of course that was when i was using the smallest gun Trevor had a 22 i think it was? haha. Trevor wanted me to try his AK47 and i am not going to lie, i was afraid! I have a video of it for you guys to see, i totally closed my eyes right before i shot i was so afraid haha. But it really wasn't that bad.

So Trevor and his friends are in love with this stuff called Tannerite, its an explosive. They like to put it in bottles and place them inside TV's, computers, washing machines, refrigerators! Trust me these boys will blow up anything! It is LOUD, CRAZY, and FUN!

Now when i said these guys are crazy i meant it, Exhibit A. This is Stanton, Trevor's best friend who decided it would be fun to light his feet on fire. Oh and Trevor lit his head on fire, i don't have a picture of this because i was freaking out so bad yelling at him for doing it in the first place. He ended up scorching his hair on the whole back of the head! ugh.

Me and Trevor making weired poses, the heat from the bon fire was intense which i think explains my weired face haha.

Trevor being camera shy.

Just a cool shot of the fire one of the computers were burning in. I guess something electrical when it burns makes pretty colors!

Here is the little clip of me shooting the AK47 hahaha.
