Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at our house was jam packed, not just with what we had planned, but with people! The morning and afternoon of Christmas Eve was spent at the park by our house, which with the amazing weather was divine I tell you. The rest of the day was just as great.

Normally we make a huge array of appetizers and just eat a bunch of random things for Christmas Eve dinner, but this year my mom decided to have us make our own pizzas and turned our kitchen into a little pizza bar! We had a lot of fun all of us elbow to elbow in the kitchen making pizzas together. Never a dull moment at my house.

Christmas Eve involved even more traditions. We always open one gift, which is always pajamas! Some of the newley married couples got some stocking made by my mother, a gift she started giving once we got married. The boys loved being able to open a gift and looked adorable in their pjs.

Following Christmas Eve presents we enjoyed our traditional Leavitt Family Talent Show. My favorite act this year was done by my two brothers, Ben and Alex. Last minute they decided to put together an acrobat routine that was actually incredibly impressive! Who knew they had that in them?! We were all laughing so hard, and I wish I could have uploaded the whole thing to instagram because this clip does NOT do it justice. It was hilarious! See it for yourself here...

It is just a fun night of laughter and funny talents, some talents more serious and impressive then others. But all in all just a lot of fun. We even got a surprise talent from my Dad this year! Apparently just after him and my mother were married my Mom surprised my Dad with some oil paintings classes. I guess he has always wanted to try it. NONE of us knew this! He pulled out some of his old work and we were all begging to have keep them. I was so impressed with his work from just one class he took many years ago. We all told him he has been missing out on developing what is obviously a talent. We all encouraged him to take some more classes! This one was my favorite.

At the end of every Christmas Eve my Dad ends the night by reading the story of Christ's birth from the Bible :) as well as cookies and carrots for Santa and his reindeer as well, obviously.

And of course, every night when people are over at my parent's house, the night ends with games. The boys take this the most seriously however! We will play into the wee hours of the morning each night! It gets intense, but is a lot of fun.

Autumn is someone I went to the University of Utah with, and she is one of the kindest women I know! We had a lot of classes together right at the end, and I wish we had spent more time together outside of class. Check out for yourself on sweet blog about her "Ausam" life! :)

  3. I love the fact that your family has so many traditions around the holidays. It's so awesome to see! Can I just say that the pizza idea was genuis? I might have to steal that idea from your mom some day. I'm glad you had a great Christmas! It was great weather here in Caifornia.
