marching on.

Top: LuLus Jeans: F21 Shoes: F21

I like to call this my marching shirt :) I feel like I am in a marching band when I wear it. Totally random statement but it needed to be said. I can't believe I even got away with wearing these heels for a bit that day, like I mentioned previously I have been crossing my fingers it wouldn't really snow here in Utah until we were already gone to San Diego for Christmas.... and it looks like I am going to get my wish! Huzzah!

The forecast says it isn't going to snow until well after Christmas :) An entire fall semester without snow.... now that is a Merry Christmas!

Anyways on to some other random ramblings about my life...

Why is it so impossible to get mascara off? Is it just me, or do you feel like you almost scrub your eyelashes off and still don't get it all gone? Anyone have any good suggestions for some make up remover that does the job without leaving your eyes sore and hands tired?

How is it I seem to keep every room in our apartment clean, except our bedroom?  I feel like I am starting from scratch every Saturday that I have to clean our room! BAH.

Why do people feel so comfortable in their cars? I have now seen people, picking their nose, eating their snot, getting dressed, reading newspapers while driving, reading books while driving, doing make up and nails while driving, and are you ready.... brushing their teeth while driving?! Yup, she even opend the door at the stop light and spit it out. Classy.
----People are nuts. Although I would be lying if I said I have never got dressed while driving... I was at a stop light so it was safe okay!

I also somehow managed to do it again. Go months without shaving. There is apart of me that loves that my husband could care less. He is "A" okay for the al natural... I think he wold do good in Europe. However there is another part of me that wishes he hated it, because I feel like less of girl when they aren't shaved. Dilemma. Comfort over beauty?
----Please tell me I am not the only one who goes months without shaving? :/ haha

Alright folks, give me some random ramblings about your life?

  1. I use Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes every night to take off my makeup. I usually get mine from our local grocery store or Target. The nice thing about it is that you don't have to use the entire towelette! I usually rip it in half and put it back in the container, so I get more bang for my buck :) I don't wear mascara often but it has taken it off pretty easily for me when I have worn it!

  3. I totally go longer than I should without shaving in the winter. Don't feel bad! For the mascara, have you used eye makeup remover? It comes in a bottle and you just dab some on a cotton ball and it comes right off. I've also used makeup remover wipes and those work well too! Love ya!

  4. I definitely just shaved on Saturday for the first time since August! Hahahahaha I blame being pregnant and therefore a bit lazy ;)

  5. Clinique makes some good eye makeup remover, but I'm sure there are cheaper options at the drug store. Also, do you wear waterproof mascara? It certainly comes off easier if you don't. And no, you aren't the only one with this problem! Just a couple weeks ago I actually rubbed under my eye with a cloth until it was raw! It was awful! I don't recommend the "rub til it's gone" technique! haha!

  6. You look like such a beautiful professional model in your photos!!!

  7. In winter I may go two weeks without shaving my legs but any longer than that I couldn't handle.

Bio-oil on a cotton pad works amazing to remove mascara.

Also Spiezia Makeup remover is amazing for even waterproof mascara and it is 100% organic and natural so no toxins for the sensitive eye area!

  8. Hey Alycia, one thing you might want to make sure is that you're NOT wearing waterproof makeup. I used to have the same trouble as you, but I switched and never wear waterproof anymore. So now, if I go swimming or something I just don't wear makeup. It honestly feels great. I've used many kinds of mascara and I usually just use soap on a cotton ball. And maybe baby oil to remove remaining bits of makeup.

Be sure to let us know what you figure out!

  10. First, I love the outfit. So adorable! Second, I found myself laughing along with your ramblings... they are so true!! Why do people feel so comfortable in cars?! Like, other people can still SEE YOU! And the mascara thing- this may sound crazy, but ever since I was little and in dance recitals, my mom would use vaseline to take off the little make-up I was wearing, and I still use this method as an adult. It seriously works! Apparently it also makes your eyelashes grow, too! *According to Pinterest :)

  11. I find that using a makeup remover pad doesn't get all of my eye makeup off. So after I use one, I use eye makeup remove specifically. I think doubling up removes more than just one initial wipe.

Love your outfit. And your makeup looks flawless!

  13. You are adorable. Don't get me wrong, I love staying home with my kids, but your outfit posts make me want a reason to get out and dress cute every day :) I have sworn by the Target brand of makeup remover towelettes for years! They are amazing and so easy!

  14. I love your outfit!!!! You aren't alone with the shaving...I'm like that too and I definitely feel more like a girl when I shave more often...it just takes so much time!

  15. I love your outfit!
My favorite eyemakeup remover is L´Oreal Dermo Expertise Gentle Waterproof Eye and Lip Makeup Remover. I use it all the time and I haven´t had no problems with removing different mascaras.

  17. The bedroom is totally the hardest the keep clean!
and for makeup I use lotion. I know it sounds weird but I love it. I just put a little ponds on a wash cloth and rub my eyes with it. I like this one which moisturizes my faces while taking off my make up.
    http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=ponds+lotion&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=14535338720655396664&sa=X&ei=jVzvTsDmJ6iI2gWg9d2lDw&ved=0CDsQ8wIwAQ

Or they even have a make-up remover one: http://www.drugstore.com/ponds-cold-cream-the-cool-classic/qxp17105

    Seriously- try it!

and I wish I could go without shaving that much! but between work and church my legs are bare too much! I am short and feel like floor length skirts/dresses make me look even shorter so I wear a lot of stuff that hits at the knee.

  18. Hahaha! I definitely can go two weeks w out shaving, but not months. My hair is probably thicker or something though. Try Mary Kay's makeup remover. It's awesome! I am sooooooooooo happy tha it hasn't snowed again here (knock on wood). I am so not ready for a snow... Still. Haha! And I love your shirt! It's way cute!

  20. If you can get hold of, Biore (pink packaging) wipes are the best ones ever at removing makeup! :)

  21. hey hey. im a san diego girl too. going home for new years and there won't have been any snow in nyc either! whoot whoot.

two things to say about mascara and the removal thereof:

    1. I get the make-up remover sheets from Neutrogena (they sell them in big packs at costco) they are affordable and easy. I use one for a couple nights then trash so the pack last awhile. I wash my face first and that take off a good amount of eye makeup, then I swipe the leftovers off with the towelette. total life changer!!!!

    2. another awesome option is: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P46017

blinc mascara makes these little tubes of mascara on your lashes and its pretty easy to take off. I don't wear this everyday bec it doesn't make my lashes quite as full as regular mascara and my lashes are sad, but I use it a lot especially in the summer whenever water and sweat proof is a priority.

    ok monologue finished.

  22. Ha! I'm TOTALLY with you on the whole keeping the room clean thing. I am a total nutcase about keeping my entire house clean at all times, but for some reason my bedroom is always a living disaster. Why why why?

  23. Olive oil girlfriend! Look no further, Seriously, BEST make up remover EVER. If you are turned off by the smell, then use grape seed oil instead. Both work wonders!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I feel the SAME way about cleaning our bedroom every single weekend! Its unreal how many clothes end up all over the place from just getting dressed every morning lol :)
I also use the cheap towelettes, but dont wear much mascara, so it comes off pretty easily!

and as far as shaving, i procrastinate as long as possible, but my legs itch like crazy after a week or so i cant take it! lol

love reading your blog and gald ur back from your bloggy break :)

  25. You. look. beautiful! Seriously, that lipstick was made for you. Love it.

  26. I see men all the time using their electric shaver while driving.

And no I don't go months on end without shaving. I refuse to wear nylons, so when Sunday morning hits I make sure I shave.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I've seen someone brushing their teeth in the car too! I don't get it.

I use Olay foaming face wash and it does the job of removing my mascara (and my other make up too).

  28. oh I loved this post. Funny you wish for snow not to come, here in AZ I am wishing snow would fall where we are : ) My mascara never seems to fully come off either, no matter what cleaner I try or even if it isn't waterproof. Our bedroom never seems to stay clean either, LUCKILY people don't have easy access to our bedroom unless 1- they are rude and 2- you let them in : ) As for not shaving for months, I haven't done that. My husband would tell me to shave, even after a week he will tease about my legs being prickley haha. Thanks for stopping by my blog! Love yours!

  29. I RARELY shave, but my leg hairs are so sparse and I'm usually in pants, anyway.

You are SO LUCKY it hasn't snowed yet! The same thing happened to us the year we moved from Utah. We pulled out early in the morning on December 12 and the first major snowstorm of the year was right on our tails the whole way out! My prayers were answered. This Arizona girl seriously hates snow.

  31. I pat my eyes with warm water then use Almay eye makeup remover pads. They're the best and leave my eyes soft :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. you're totally not the only one! haha it is such a pain in the butt! my hubby doesn't seem to mind that much either, if he did it might make me feel more motivated to keep up though :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. "eating their snot" cracked me up. Literally. Who eats their snot??!!!That's soo gross! And on the shaving thing: the way I see it, if its winter and your wearing pants the majority of the time, there's no need to do it everyday! but that's just me :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Love your marching shirt :)
mary kay has the best oil free make up remover. It's the only kind I like that actually gets it all off without scrubbing.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Um.. yes! I can never get my mascara off. I swear it's awful. I totally hear you on that one.. thanks for posting. ALSO, Love, love, love those jeans.. if I didn't have such "thick" legs I would totally go buy myself some.

  36. a) use olive oil to take your mascara off. promise. just rinse well so you don't feel greasy.

    b) the title of this post = reference to the one republic song of the same title? i hope so. great song.

  37. Olive oil is the best! And it conditions your lashes so they're stronger, and appear longer since they won't fall out as much. I'm not sure how well it works with waterproof though cause I don't wear it - it dries my lashes out and makes them all brittle.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I love that top, Alycia!! You look gorgeous! :)

  39. I haven't shaved my thighs in months! That's how I compromise, my calves are still nice, girly and shaven while my thighs are nasty. But it still saves time! Haha I'm glad that someone else goes forever without shaving :)

  40. Thanks for stopping by! I love your shirt! Even if you feel like your in the band lol...

  41. love the shirt! i use dial soap to remove makeup.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I hardly ever shave my legs in the winter and I think I shaved maybe five times while I was pregnant. I'm thankful for blonde leg hairs and the fact that my husband doesn't care either!

    ReplyDelete
  43. haha my legs seriously look like a mans right now!

    gosh, you're so darn adorable!!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Remover tip: I use Neutrogena Oil-Free remover, I still will have panda-face when I get out of the shower in the morning so I swipe some moisturizer under my eyes and wipe off excess with a cotton pad. Keeps puffiness and wrinkles at bay. Sometimes I forget how long it has been since I have last shaved. Hubster says that it doesn't go unnoticed, but gave me a pass since I can't even see my feet these days. I have definitely dressed in the car. I have been honked at while stuck in a jacket at stop lights. Whoops!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Haha! Don't worry I go months without shaving too! Especially in the winter. I can't believe the things people do in their cars. Crazy!
    Anyways, cute outfit :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. You are just too darn cute!! The longest I've ever gone without shaving was almost two weeks, then I finally got sick of it and hated itching all the time. ;)

Oh and I don't use waterproof mascara - hate it actually. Hated that it ripped out my eyelashes and would take FOR-ever to take off. I use non-waterproof covergirl lash blast and it comes off with water and bar soap. Hope that helps!

    xoxo

  47. The shaver and I don't see each other much during winter, I'll admit. We call it our time off from each other...until we meet again in Spring.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I love that top! Oh and when mascara is being extra stubborn I just use vaseline to get it off!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Love the outfit! I've gone about 3 weeks without shaving before. In the winter, I won't really care too much unless I'm going to wear a cute skirt with some tights. Someone was brushing their teeth while driving? I've seen people do some bizarre thing while driving, but that's a first for me. Crazy people!

  50. i really love that shirt you are wearing and the way your make-up looks nice and simple but cute. :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. you look so adorable in your marching shirt!! i want one for myself now.
as for the masacra, my mom and I have this el cheapo brand that it super thick and gets everywhere when you put it on, BUT comes off oh so easy in the shower (i use clean & clear sensitive skin on my face). or in any water, really. it's not the best, believe me but it gets the job done!
my bedroom is the cleanest room in the house. i can't stand a messy bedroom, so i can't help ya there!
oh boyyy. people in cars are crazy. i once saw our local weatherman (well one of FIVE for that station) getting one interesting head massage from his passenger. that's all i have to say on THAT one.
and i'm with ya on the shaving. i haven't shaved but twice since August. hahaha!

    ReplyDelete
  52. two things: love your shirt and i hate hate hate shaving. i go as long as possible before my husband starts complaining. ha!

    ReplyDelete
  53. mascara does take forever to get off, SUPER annoying. and i must admit, i'm actually really sad that it didn't snow in provo, mainly because i wanted a white holiday to get me prepped for christmas before heading home to the rain in seattle. oh well, i guess coming home to snow will work for me!
    xo TJ

  54. haha i definitely don't go months, but weeks! I feel better when I shave too! It's like fixing my hair! I hate doign it but i feel way better when I do!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I used to have the same problem with my mascara removal--I would use waterproof remover, wipes, and would still have some mascara on my lashes the next morning! However, I discovered the L'Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes mascara, and my mascara comes right off in the shower, no eye make-up remover needed. And it also absolutely does not smudge--I have cried, slept with it on, and been in hot, humid weather, and it does not budge. Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  56. In the winter I often go weeks without shaving. Yikes!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Haha, shaving is *such* a draaaag! I thought i was the only sad girl in the world who hated shaving her legs! I see all of these commercials with women who love shaving their legs...and hear friends who shave their legs everyday, and I think...wow, what is wrong with ME? It's not fun at all...it's so tedious. Glad to know I'm not the only one!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I use Jojoba oil to remove my eye makeup, and it works like a champ! :)
