So I have seen these accent vlogs going around for the past several months. I know I am way behind the trend... but I thought it would be fun to do one!
disclaimer...
Yes, I am in my work office, but NO I am not making a vlog while at work! I came in on a Saturday to do some extra stuff and thought it was a quiet place I could do it without disturbing Trevor. With that said.... here you go people :)
could this video still be any more awkward? haha oh boy...
Say the following words:
Aunt, route, wash, oil, theater, iron, salmon, caramel, fire, water, sure, data, ruin, crayon, toilet, New Orleans, pecan, both, again, probably, spitting image, Alabama, lawyer, coupon, mayonnaise, syrup, pajamas, caught
Answer these questions:
What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
What is the bug that curls into a ball when you touch it?
What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
What do you call gym shoes?
What do you say to address a group of people?
What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
What do you call your grandparents?
What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
What is the thing you use to change the TV channel?
So do I have an accent, do YOU have an accent?
Oh and who knows what a garburator is? No cheating! haha :)
Oh I loved watching your video very fun, you are TOO CUTE! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm still lovin' the bangs.
so fun! A garburator is a garbage disposal right? My brother in law is canadian and we enjoy teasing him about somethings!
ReplyDeleteUmmmm. The guess from Hubby and I is a garbage disposal. Probably way off, but hey, whatever!
ReplyDeleteI don't really think you have an accent, although sometimes you sound like you have a little southern twang.
And Goonies - best thing ever.
You are too cute! This makes me want to do a vlog now haha - not sure if I can jump on the accent vlog wagon those as I might be a little late? Anyway, yours was adorable! I found myself nodding my head at some and wondering what I would say for others. Cute - cute!
ReplyDeleteGASP! What a horrible person, killing those rolly-pollys with a scooter! hahahaha Who knew you had such violent tendencies! :)
ReplyDelete"Hey you guuuuuys", I may or may not have laughed out loud.. lol
Ok this is HA LARIOUS! I can't actually listen to it because I'm at work (shhh don't tell :)) but I shall have to come back and listen later! And I have not one clue what a garburator is? Something to do with garbage? lol Kaleigh xx
ReplyDeleteWhat?? I've never heard of an accent vlog! Fun! Loved yours. You sound normal to me and just say some thins differently- melk... Tsk Tsk alycia! Haha! It's milk
ReplyDeletehaha this is adorable. i've been thinking of doing one for a while now, because i from canadaland & haven't seen a canadian one yet. a garburator is the thing in your sink where you put potato peels and crap & grinds 'em up for the compost.
ReplyDeletetrue story when i moved into my apt for school in sept i saw a light switch above the sink and i got mad when it wasn't a garburator. never even occured to be it coulda been for oh, i don't know, a light?! haha, i'm from southwestern ontario.
i never really thought i had an accent before, but since moving away for school people keep pointing out i have a bit of a "hick" accent when i say certain words. eh it's whatcha get from coming from a farming town i guess.
Soooo I loved you until I heard that you killed "Rollie Pollie's" hahahaha only kidding, in Utah we called them Potato bugs, funny!! adorable little video!! :) Give me more!!!
ReplyDeleteI know what a garburator is! Only the best thing ever. Garbage disposal in your sink! So the drain never gets clogged when food goes down. It makes doing the dishes a million times less gross because you don't have to clean out any bits of food when you're done. I'm from Canada though so of course I know.
ReplyDeleteDo they not have those in the States or is it called something different?
How about Chesterfield, touque, and poutine? I totally thought you were going to say Chesterfield for the weird Canadian word.
You certainly sound like you're from the States--and more like you're from Utah than San Diego. I hope that's not an insult.
Fun video!
Dang I kept cracking up! But what got me was grocery cart comment - that is not a dumb question! We call it a buggy - but I've also heard it called a shopping cart.
ReplyDeleteI thought the rain question deserved the dumb question comment!
Haha - thanks for the laugh!
You are too cute. You don't seem to have an accent really, but I love that you say Pop, because I do too!
ReplyDeleteAnd being from Minnesota, I know that a garburator is a garbage disposal!
haha! The other word for grocery cart is "buggy." :) And I think the other option for the toilet paper question is "rolling." I love how everyone thinks they're right and everyone else is wrong! :) I kinda want to do one of these but I don't really have an accent...
ReplyDeletecute video! and a garburater is a garbage disposal....like down your kitchen sink...i also have no idea how to spell it! lol!
ReplyDeleteI'm Canadian, originally from Ontario, but currently living in Vancouver. I was told while travelling in Europe that I sounded super Canadian, however my Bf tells me that sometimes i sound like i'm from the mid-west! weird!
super cute! loved hearing how you sound :) ummmm, this makes me wanna do an accent vlog! maybe i will lol :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool! Being a South African living in the US my accent is all sorts of messed up right now but I say so many of those things differently.
ReplyDeleteIm so tempted to make my own vlog since its so totally different to yours. Think I'll do that tonight. :)
what a doll. :) it's fun to hear bloggers talk. since we are always typing.
ReplyDeletexoxo
I love this! I remember seeing a few of these vlogs a while back but I never got a chance to do one. Maybe I will now!! :)
ReplyDeleteWe would always calling the "toilet papering" of a house "TPing" or "rolling". Not that I ever did that... **innocent look**.
Have a great day!
:)
you are so cute! Love your personality! so glad i found your blog!
ReplyDeletefun video!! no idea what a garburator is. will have to go look it up :)
ReplyDeleteI'm from Ontario & I had noooooooo idea what a garburator was, until I read the comments. Haha!
ReplyDeleteso funny about the sOrry bit...I have a friend from Canada and she says that all the time and I gift her crap for it! :) Also, don't worry about the whole bug killing...I used to do that on a farm with those really ugly caterpillars, we'd run over them with our bikes to see what color they'd squish out, ewww, I know!!
ReplyDeleteand for the record, I don't think you have an accent! ;)
I do the same thing with pronouncing caramel two different ways! It's weird! And I remember when I saw one of these vlogs a while back and I saw the "grocery cart" question and I was like "what on earth would you call it other than that?" but the vlog I watched it on called it a "buggy"! I might have to try this out! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you've watched this accent vlog but she will probably answer your questions about the other names to call things...i think most of the questions are geared toward southern people.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.e-tells-tales.com/2011/11/brace-yourself-i-vlogged.html
Of course i know what a garburator (spelling?) is! A garbage disposal in the sink :) What do americans call it? Living in australia, you have no idea how many times a day i get called on the funny things i say and how many times i'm shocked at the crazy things aussies say!
ReplyDeleteHow cute!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what a Canadian garburator is, but for my old Samoan grandfather, that'd be his broken English way of saying carburetor.
Your video is adorable!
Hope you're surviving this Utah cold and the little snow on the ground today!
i don't think you have an accent at ALL! just cute little ways you say certain words :) but we all do that!
ReplyDeleteAlycia this was too cute! I never called your gym shoes "tennis shoes" Dad & I have always called them "runners". I do know what a garburator is :D We either called it "toilet papering" or "t'ping". You made me laugh at certain parts - especially when you talked about some of the questions you thought were dumb :) And you're right....I don't like it when people here say "sawry" instead of "sOrry".
ReplyDeleteYou are too cute! Love your blog! Thank for following mine too, it means a lot!!
ReplyDeletethanks for stopping by girl! i am loving your blog...loving your bangs :) can't wait to look around your blog even more!!
ReplyDeletehaha love the video! You are too cute.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think I recognize the view out your window in Provo. I think my husband worked in a building around there.
Oh, and my guess on a garberator (however you spell it) would be the garbage disposal in the sink.
I'm so happy that you found my blog! Your blog is fabulous! Even cooler is that we both live in Utah! Hooray for new blog friends!
ReplyDeletePs my comment word verification is gangsrja... Longest verification ever! Ha!
garbage disposal
ReplyDeleteThough I always thought it was funny the way you pronounced the top part of the house and the place where you keep your cars parked.
Those and the last letter of the alphabet. :)
Is garburator not a universal term?? Haha!! I am from Montreal originally, grew up in Calgary and now live in Toronto! It is really funny to hear people pronouncing these words- love it!

Haha, I love you vlog - to me you definitely DO have an accent. That's just because I'm an English South African so our pronunciation of those words are completely different. :)
ReplyDeletecute vlog. i love hearing bloggers talk. it makes a conncetion with us readers for sure.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite:
ReplyDeleteWhat do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
Well, I would call that rain, actually.
Haha.
I honestly had no idea there was another term for that.
And I have never heard of an accent vlog! But I loved it!
I think your voice is cute, not really an accent but very nice sounding. Love the bangs as well.
ReplyDeletelove you blog :)
ReplyDeleteNew follower!
your bangs are so super cute!(:
ReplyDeleteloved your vlog! i wouldn't say you have an accent. but i say a lot of those words differently. but i don't think i have an accent either.
i'm loving this whole vlog thing, btw! i just recently did my second one, ever. i think i might be addicted.

ReplyDeleteGarburator. Garbage disposal. And I'm Canadian and do not have one.
ReplyDeleteBut we do have one at the condo in Florida! Hmmm.
And PS - you say everything just as I would so you officially have a Canuck accent. xo
AH I want your hair! That's it, I'm doing it this weekend.
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! This idea is SOOO cute, totally stealing it for next week!! :)

ReplyDeleteLOL! I have never heard of a garburator, but it sounds like a garbage disposal? maybe... =)

I love this! I did one a couple of months ago and I thought it was so weird hearing myself haha
ReplyDeletehttp://mrsautumn.blogspot.com/2011/01/day-4-and-my-first-vlog.html
Cute video! I think I talk pretty much the same as you. I'm from Winnipeg, Canada. And a garburator is a garbage disposal in your sink.

ReplyDeleteI love this. I've seen one before. I should do this. :)
ReplyDeleteSo much fun to watch!! Here in New Zealand we have so many different words... carbonated drink is called "fizzy drink" and gym shoes are called "sneakers". Also, the grocery cart is called a "shopping trolley" here!
ReplyDeleteso apparently I'm now loving all your posts! haha. this one is awesome. the vlog is not awkward at all! I know I have a true southern accent so this would be horrific had I attempted it! And this is actually the first one of these accent vlogs I've seen!
