Children are the future. It is time to use the confidence of our youth to our advantage and empower them with a good education so they can be successful.
I graduate in Education April, and I am currently a substitute teacher in Houston, TX. I watched that video while home over spring break last week and couldn't help but yell at the television. We need more people going into education that are willing to try and be superman. Even as a substitute teacher, I have some of the most heart breaking conversations with my students, and some of the most amazing conversations with them as well. They need people to believe in them and give them a QUALITY education. Not just show up. I didn't go into education because I wanted to make money. I did it because I want to help!! Don't be overwhelmed by the task ahead of you, because it is not an easy one.
That's exactly why I chose to become a teacher too! We have to teach our children to be strong individuals, to be excited about their futures! They have to know that they can change this world for the better :)
We watched this documentary. It hurt my heart to watch those children not get chosen when they talk about their ambitions. I wonder how many of them will actually end up successful. It's so sad to see how many teachers don't give a care about education rather than keeping their jobs. It is near impossible to be fired if you are a teacher because of the union. All we can do is hope for good teachers like I bet you'd be!
So many family members of mine are teachers and talk all the time about how privileged they feel to be able to make an impact on the lives of children.
I've always known you would be an amazing teacher. You were taught by some of the best and you will only improve upon that. I'm proud of you and I love you! :)
Did you watch the movie? I JUST Watched it 2 days ago and I made my boyfriend watch it too so he could get some insight as to what I deal with on a daily basis!!!!!
Get ready, girlfriend. I LOVE teaching & God gave me a teaching heart, but it is a thankless job. My state is currently cutting insane amounts of funding & everyone is in a panic. You are going to be an AMAZING teacher, I cannot wait to read about your journey! <3 leigh
WOW, ok, so I was blog hopping and I have to stop and say- awesome!!
I'm a teacher as well, and it gives me chills to watch things like this and know I'm in a profession that I have the opportunity to help and make a difference.
I just got emotional watching that. I grew up in a city where nearly everyone in my class graduated. Sometimes we forget that there are more people out there who aren't as blessed to have good teachers and a strong support system. THANK YOU for wanting to make a change!
You guys should watch the documentary... it is mind blowing! It makes me so angry with how education is run today and I am just a huge supporter of Education Reform.
Howdy Ho :) Thanks for stopping by my blog! I have enabled the forum feature on my comments so we can all interact in conversation. So if you leave a question, look back for a reply!
Thanks for stopping by! My name is Alycia, and this blog has been such a fun space for me to share everything from the very meaningful, the mundane, and the frivolous stuff that falls inbetween. I guess you could say this is a digital journal of sorts! I believe that life should be enjoyed and celebrated, and invite you to join along in the party! ❤
so inspiring!! we need more people like you
