Letting it all go...

A group of women at my church have put together a yoga group that meets on Saturday mornings. So this past weekend I decided to join them. I haven't done yoga since high school. I had liked yoga but  hadn't done it for years because it just really hurt my (weak) wrists. So I decided to go try it out again to see if I like it after four years. Of course there I was again...the positions were not hurting me, nothing really hurt... except my darn wrists! LO AND BEHOLD, the instructor taught me a special way to hold my hands and it changed everything! They didn't hurt at all anymore after that, and I have fallen in love with yoga! I have always wanted to be more flexible and yoga really pushes your body and builds strength... it was amazing! (I am so stinkin' sore, I haven't had something workout my arms like this since my Lacrosse days)
Now the only con to yoga... it really opens you up, it really loosens you up. It loosens everything. Throughout the moves I could feel it loosening "other things" that I didn't expect it to...haha. um. Let's just say... I was trying really really hard throughout the moves not to... what is the polite word to say online..."toot?" hahaha Has anyone else ever had to deal with that while doing yoga?! Oh my gosh it was so awkward/embarrassing... I mean, I DIDN'T do anything... but I was sure awkwardly trying to transition to different moves without letting it all go! HA.
Anyways, I love how yoga made me feel, even if it makes other areas more relaxed with it...haha. Oh boy. I am definitely going to keep yoga up, and hopefully I will never experience letting it all go while in a yoga class :) haha.

P.S. Trevor was very disgusted when I came home from yoga and told him of my dilemma... so sorry for any of you who are disgusted with it as well, haha. But hey I am just being honest...

P.S.S. thank you all who agreed with me about the name Duke. I think Trevor is starting to realize it is more of a pet name, then a person name :)

  1. I miss yoga! I don't have the money to do it with a group, nor the space to do it at home. Such is life haha.

I'm not disgusted; it's a part of life. At least you were relaxed enough? Haha. It happens and people should expect it.

  2. I heard that "yoga" is a spiritual thing for Buddhists and that it isn't Christian to do it... however Pilates is fine... I wonder... Is this a rumor?

  5. You are definitely not alone on this one, that pose pictured in your post is notorious for "cleansing the body". If it will make you feel better, when I was in college, I majored in P.E. and we were all in the Gymnastics arena very early one morning... working on the uneven bars... learning to use them when you are 19 is not so cool.. so when my stomach hit the bar, out it came like a clap of thunder. I nearly died of embarassment, of course we totally died laughing about it later but at the time I was mortified.

  11. Oh my goodness! I completely know what you're talking about. My first time that I went to do yoga, I was on a date. It was crazy awkward and so much harder to do because I was trying not to toot the whole time! Yep. Totally feel your pain. I do love yoga though. :)

  12. It does that! My yoga teachers always say not to eat/drink for an hour or so before class. Anyway... you're not alone!

  16. I've done yoga twice in my life. I don't know if it's for me. I know it's supposed to be good for you, but I like more intense and upbeat workouts. :) LOL about the tooting. It's okay. We all do it. Sure, it's embarassing, but hey, if you gotta toot you gotta toot. :) Happy Monday!!

  17. I thought every guy loved to talk about bodily functions. The topic always comes up at the strangest of times...around the dinner table at the in-laws house, while watching a movie and the dog just let one rip and we all duck under a blanket, only to find out that someone let out a stink under the blanket.

  20. Hey Alycia, so I was pretty excited to get your comments because first: I love making new blog friends and it seems we have a lot in common; and second: I sometimes wonder if anyone reads my little blog (which I guess isn't the whole point of my doing it so I shouldn't worry about it too much) so to see someone new was awesome! Thanks :)

p.s. Yoga rocks! Except during those gaseous moments. Haha, that is too funny!

  21. Haha! YES, Yoga totally does this to me and apparently many other people who have commented as well! It's good to know I'm not the only one. Alycia you totally make me laugh.

  23. I have the same problem. Not just with yoga, but any exercise. That's why I usually exercise by myself in my living room, with only my kids to witness anything I might do.
