So far I have only made one purchase for this little one. I know, pretty crazy considering I only have about three more months to make sure I have everything ready to go! I did a lot of research when it came to my baby registry and putting together a list of the things that I would need. During that research I learned about a "miracle" bassinet of sorts, the Fisher-Price Moonlight Meadow Deluxe Newborn Rock 'n Play Sleeper. I kept seeing such amazing reviews on it over and over again and finally after seeing a few trusted sources of people's opinions that I value talk about it, I knew I had to have it. Plus it was on sale for almost 50% off! I actually bought it before I even knew what gender we were having. I got a pale turquoise blue color so that it would work with all genders for any future babies, boy or girl.
Apparently this rocker is magic, and makes the fussiest baby sleep! I don't know if I will have that problem but I am looking to do everything in my power to make sure I don't have that problem to begin with, that's for sure! There must be some truth to it since I have seen it recommended everywhere and the reviews give it 5/5 stars. A lot of the reviews talk about the vibrating "rock'n" feature. Basically you put a d-battery into it and when you turn it on it gently vibrates the bed. As most people know when you hold a baby and pat or rub them they tend to stay asleep. But as soon as you put them down and walk away, like magic, the baby knows you left and will start crying for you to return. The vibration helps to simulate the feeling that you are still there. Reviews say that while it doesn't work 100% of the time, more often than not it is great. There was also a lot of mentions about how the shape and design makes the baby feel like it is being held or swaddled.
I remember my parents were always really good about taping some batteries to our gifts that required them so we could open it right then and there and use it. We often forget about those little details, especially when planning for a baby! With so many battery powered gadgets out there for our little ones, I made sure to add some Duracell batteries to my registry so that I have one less thing to think about once this little girl arrives. I could just see us getting home and putting her in it and being like...oh duh, do we have any batteries?! Duracell also provides longer lasting power for those devices that help soothe or get your little one to sleep, which you will be super thankful for when you aren't having to change them because it stopped working mid-nap! (*Duracell lasts longer in 99% of devices vs. the next leading competitive brand.) So stock up for all your devices and gadgets so you are always prepared!
Below I have put together a list of some of my must have picks from what I have gathered around the internet for baby registries! I have registered at Target and Amazon. I will say, registering at Amazon has been amazing! You have access to so many different brands and products, so you can pretty much get everything you want on one registry. Amazon has always had great customer service, free returns for 90 days, and so many people already have amazon accounts so it makes it super simple for them to use. They also have a generous completion program (15% off everything on your registry after your baby is born if you’re a member of amazon moms), and if that wasn't enough they have an amazing thank you note organizer that automatically saves the mailing addresses of anyone who sends you a gift so you can easily and quickly send them a thank you note. Amazing!
Anyways, onto the registry list. Let me know if there is anything else I should have on here that you have loved. I need all the tips and advice I can get! Your comments will enter you into a raffle for a $100 Visa gift card!

ReplyDeleteThe nose frida, hands down was one of the oddest things I received and one of the most useful!
ReplyDeleteI'm due with my first baby in September so I'm in the midst of building my registry as well. One this I was sure to add was the Stokke Tripp Trapp high chair, so many of mama friends highly recommended it and they use it up to when their children are 6 years old --- or older!
ReplyDeleteI loved our baby swing. It went side to side and also front to back, my son and daughter each had their own preferences and the swing soothed them so much.

I'm due with my first baby (a girl!) in early September and have heard great things about the night vision baby monitors that let you talk to the baby so she can hear your voice even when you're not in the room. I'm most excited about my Jenny Lind crib!

ReplyDeleteI'm pregnant with my first, and I've done a ton of research on strollers. I purchased the City Select Stroller yesterday while it was on sale. Everyone who has it LOVES it and I like that it grows as your family grows :)

I'm pregnant with my first, but our biggest must-have was a pack-n-play with a newborn attachment so we can have our little one in our room overnight for the first few months!
ReplyDeleteI have also heard wonderful things about the FP Rock n Play! I will definitely be registering for one when I am pregnant!
ReplyDeleteI'm pregnant with my third and I feel like you can never have too many soft little blankets! Great for swaddling and keeping warm when the weather turns cold!
ReplyDeleteI would say a diaper bag for sure and some nursing pillows :)
ReplyDeleteHere is my tweet :) https://twitter.com/breeluvsshoppin/status/605772080873795584
Ok stinks we returned our rock n play because we never used it. The day after we returned it my daughter slept in her swing for a month. I'll be buying one for our next baby. We love our wipes warmer. I know they aren't a necessity but my little girl hated getting her bum wiped until we warmed them up. We also LOVE our diaper genie deluxe. Best purchase. She's 7 months old and fingers crossed we haven't had any bad smells coming from it.
ReplyDeleteI'm due with number 4 in two months, although I look like I was due yesterday! Hahaha! I always stock up on burp rags with each baby--you can never have enough!!! I like just the white cloth diaper looking burp cloths. And if I was super ambitious, I would make them cute by sewing on some ribbon detail, but this is baby #4 so.....:)
ReplyDeleteLOVE this list! I still feel like I need so many things! We just got the 4moms Mamaroo swing and it's pretty awesome! I am really excited to try it out and hope it comes in handy.
ReplyDeleteThose rockers are amazing! My baby loves to sit in hers in the bathroom while I shower! She is so content listening to the noise of the shower and rocking away! It's my mommy go to for having a happy baby and getting 10 minutes of peace in a relaxing shower!

The magic Sleep suit is magic! Currently watching my 5 month old on the monitor sleeping in his suit! And love the rock n play! Mine slept in it for 3 months until we knew he was getting too big and wanted out! He still plays in it because it's easy to move around the house!
ReplyDeleteI would say... get something that rattles! Once my little girl was old enough to grab things, her favorite items were toys that made noise when she shook them. I personally love the "Muffin the Moose" toy from Lamaze.

ReplyDeleteMy daughter loved her bouncer chair and play mat.
ReplyDeleteGet a Fisher Price Sit Me Up instead of the Bumbo! I wish I read up about baby sleep routines and feed 'schedules' before I had my baby. And, NOBODY told me that those first few weeks of night time feeds are the loneliest. They are horrible and you will be exhausted and feel like you are all alone. Just remember that you aren't. :) Also, when they're around 4 months old, a zippity-zip! We LOVE ours!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I have a 4 week old and one of the best things have been baby nightgowns like these http://www.carters.com/carters-baby-girl-baby-essentials-onepieces/VM_121C588.html?dwvar_VM__121C588_color=Color&dwvar_VM__121C588_size=PRE#q=gown&prefn1=brand&prefv1=carters&start=1 They make middle of the night diaper changes a breeze!
ReplyDeleteA baby gate is a must have if you have any stairs in your house.
ReplyDeleteMost excited about the baby monitor. I'm due in 5 months and haven't purchased one as of yet. This would be ideal and keep me at ease knowing I can watch and hear baby if need be while in another spot of the house.

As a nanny, I love:
ReplyDeleteThe nose frieda & windi. Both of those products are amazing! Also, Sophie the Giraffe. Yeah, its $25 for a chew toy, but it is really a life saver. I just bought one for my nephew and he goes to TOWN on that thing. Also, I am pro baby wearing, so invest in a really good carrier!
I haven't had a baby, but one thing I keep seeing pop up on my friends' registries is the ollie swaddle!

ReplyDeleteI think one of the most essential things you need for your newborn is a couple of sleepers with no feet. You just pull it up to change the diaper. Those first couple of weeks are full of diaper changes. It's so nice not to worry about snaps or getting their flailing feet back in the right spot.
ReplyDeleteMy baby loves music. having soft music in the room helps her sleeps better.

We have a lot of the same taste! I have the green bumbo and crane humidifier, but the white puj tub... Anyway! I didn't believe the hype about Sophie the Giraffe until my son was obsessed with her. The squeaker broke but that was a blessing in disguise. Also we bought a cloud b sleep sheep (it's a white noise machine) and both of our kids have loved it. Also a good swing is a must, I have the Fisher Price my little snugabunny and love it. I love that it can use batteries or plug into the wall. My mom has the 4moms mamaroo and I love that one more than my baby does haha. It's so cool.
ReplyDeleteOur first child is due in August and I've looked at nearly all the items you talked about! The other thing I'm really wanting is a carrier like a solly baby wrap so that I can get stuff done but still be close to her :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, we have a boon flair high chair and LOVE it.
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/LibbyLouu/status/606500595059466240
ReplyDeleteA few things I've looked up and are on my list or I've already bought are milk snob car seat cover that doubles as a nursing cover, my breast friend nursing pillow instead of a boppy, Solly baby wrap, JuJuBe diaper bag, City Select stroller, and mybaby homedics soundspa ont he go that clips onto the car seat so you can have white noise going wherever you are/in the car.
