Polar FT4 Review...

I have had a few people ask me about my Polar FT4 Watch, so I figured I would do a quick review of it for you! I have the basic Polar FT4 watch. I say basic because there is a whole line of Polar FT watches and they can get more and more advanced as you go up depending on what you want it for.

The watch comes with a strap that you attach to your chest. This device records your heart rate and sends it to your watch while you are working out. People have asked me if that strap bothers me, but I don't even feel it when I am working out. It is made of very comfortable material and like I said, I hardly notice I have it on. The watch shows you where your heart rate is and tells you if you are in the right "zone" or not. I absoulty love this feature because I can look down and see if I need to step it up or not. It is a little motivator saying, "Alycia, pick it up!!"

You enter in your age, sex, height and weight, so that it can accurately calculate based off that and your heart beat how many calories you are burning. I love to see how many calories I am burning because as I mentioned before, I do count calories. I like to have a general idea of how much I am putting in my body, and how much I am burning off. This is a feature I really like because before I would just go off of what the machine I was working on said, but I realized that, that can't possibly be accurate. It is going to say I burned the same amount of calories as someone twice my size on that machine, so it is nice to have something more reliable and specific to my body. I also like it for when I do workout videos. I have a few videos that I have always thought were a great workout but never really knew what kind of workout I was getting from it. The watch has showed me which of my videos are real calorie burners and which ones aren't.

The watch stores all my work out data, so I can go back and see how much I burned, what my heart rate zone was during all my workouts. Like I said, this is a pretty basic Polar FT watch, some of the watches do even more then this in recording your body and work out data, but for what I need, this watch is just right. I would highly recommend this watch if it is something you are looking into trying. I would also recommend looking into the other watches to see if there is one that is a better fit for what you are looking for. I got my watch at a local sporting goods store, but you can also find them online!

What work out gadgets are you loving?

I talked about this watch on a segment I did on the Daily Dish.

  1. Okay I really need something like this because I'd really like to know which of my workouts are the most worthwhile... I'll have to look into it, thanks!

  4. I was actually looking at these online yesterday at amazon and am hoping to convince my husband that the $60 price tag is worth it.

Not gonna lie, I am not sure if I love the functionality or the hot pinkness of it more.

  10. Ok. That is pretty sweet. I'd especially love it if was a Tamagotchi as well. (which at first glance I thought it was) Wouldn't that be the best! Man. Now I'm having Tamagotchi withdrawals.

    2. Oh the Hershey Poops. I never could get mine to potty train. I think that was the cause of death more often than not. Poor little things. Hopefully I'm better with children.

  12. I thought it was a tamagachi too! Haha. That's a neat little device though. I'm all about knowing how many calories are being put into your body too. Somewhere along the line it became taboo to count calories, but the result is that most people I know have NO idea when they eat a whole days worth of calories in one sitting...and then wondering why they can't lose weight.

    1. I know what you mean, some people give me side eye when I tell them I count. It isn't like I am crazy about it or anything, I like to just have a general idea. People would be SHOCKED if they really started to pay attention. Like how a shake from In-N-Out has more calories in it then your burger and fries COMBINED?! haha

    2. Ah shoot....are you serious about the shake thing?

Well. Better get me one of these devices then.

  20. We had to buy those as a requirement for my college phy ed class, so they could tell that we worked out and didn't lie about it, except ours were Polar FT60. They were great and I loved mine when I had it, but so much $$ for a college student!
