Zumba!

I recently joined a gym and have had a lot of fun attending a bunch of different classes. One of those classes is Zumba. The other day some of the girls and I that go together were talking about how you start to feel like you are really getting good... like you must look as good as the teacher because you are having so much fun... then you take a peek at yourself in the mirror... and well...

HA HA, Does anyone else experience this?!

  6. Haha! Honestly, I go to a mirror-less Zumba class, which I am sure is very beneficial for my confidence!

    Ignorance is bliss!

  13. Haha! I've never tried it. I might but I think I would look way Jim Carry-ish.

  14. Oh yes, I feel like that- this is why I try to do most of my workouts at home, with the door closed!

  19. haha! love this! I've never been to a Zumba class, if for no other reason than the fear of looking like this!

  29. Haha! I really want to try Zumba but have been too nervous because I have NO sense of rhythm. I would totally look just like Jim Carrey!!

  30. Haha this made me double over in laughter! We have zumba at my gym as well and I'm always so tempted to try it, but know that this is exactly what will happen to me! Maybe I should just take the plunge and make a fool of myself :)

  31. Hahaha. This made my day. Love the mental image!

  32. Yesss! Not to Zumba, but to bodypump, running, yoga, and anything else really. I'll walk into the gym thinking I look all cute, and then I'll look in those forever flattering full body mirrors and some hot mess will be looking back at me. It almost confuses me for a second.

  33. That is exactly how I feel when I do Zumba! and I used to call myself a dancer!

  34. YES!! I do zumba in a room with no mirrors, and I think I am sooo good. One day I did a zumba video at home, where there are mirrors, and was HORRIFIED.

    ReplyDelete
  35. HAHA everyday! And p.s. I LOVE the movie Step Up 2! Its one of my faves!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I love zumba :) I feel that way all the time, but hey it's the thought that counts!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hahaha...oh girl I definitely rock the second picture. I love zumba, but I know I don't look as good as I think I do. Oh well!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'm raising my hand.

I totally feel like I'm awesome. Then I see myself in the mirror, and I realize I look like a lunatic. Then I just dance harder because it's so much more entertaining that way.

  39. I know the feeling, I think everyone does! My friend and I went to Zumba once- everyone was pros, doing the routine perfectly and like they were Spanish or something. Then there was us, moving the wrong way, laughing at our attempt to be "sexy" and shake our hips. SO hilarious! SO fun though! x

    ReplyDelete
  40. Haha, I've gone with a couple of my latina friends to zumba so I never feel super confident about my moves, cause those girls can move their hips and well i cannot.

Good for you for taking up Zumba you go girl!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yes! I took my first Zumba class last week and loved it. I totally wanted to be the hot girl, but I know I looked like an idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Yes!! That is why I stick to jogging. Putting one foot in front of the other without tripping is about all I can manage! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  44. That pretty much sums up what I look like in Zumba. It is incredibly fun though.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Haha this is great! I think this all the time when I'm working out and then I see myself in the mirror and I'm like wow :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. So true! I've only taken the class twice but whenever my friends and I would look at eachother while dancing we would always bust up laughing because we knew we looked terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I started Zumba last month and I totally feel like this. I go to classes in a huge room and I'm so lucky there aren't any mirrors in that place....if there were then i'd probably be scarred for life at how crazy I look. I can barely get all the steps in, how can i manage to even look good at the same time? haha!

    ReplyDelete
  48. HA! It's SO true though! It's like when you're singing to the radio when the music is up way loud and you feel you're hitting all of the same everything as them! So funny. I have had amazing zumba experiences and traumatic ones... Either way, it's SO fun!

    ReplyDelete
  49. LOL I took Zumba once and thats EXACTLY what I looked like....needless to say, I haven't done it since. Just tagged you in my newest post "eleven things"

  51. oh my goodness this is HILARIOUS. I think I saw this on Pinterest once and it's so true. I do want to try Zumba at least once though, it looks fun! Even though I would probably look like a 'full body dry heave set to music' (Seinfeld) :P

  55. I've also been doing Zumba 2 nights a week and I can def agree with this'd. My body just doesn't move like theirs, but I'm not giving up. Good or bad, pretty or ugly I'm going to keep it up. It's a wonderful workout and it's so much fun!!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. hahaha this is hilarious! I've only done it once but this definitely describes how I felt!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Oh man this is a great comparison. I don't like zumba but feel this way in Body Combat class.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Hahaha this is so funny! I have been wanting to try Zumba for awhile but I am too chicken to go. I need to just do it!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Good Luck on the workout. I did this for a little while, but I must say I have no rhythm so it makes it a little difficult and I felt goofy. :)

    ReplyDelete
  60. HAHAHA! Seriously! This is EXACTLY how I feel!!! LOL! I LOVE Zumba SO very much, even if I do look like Jim Carey while I'm doin git :)

  61. I think its so awesome how far a photo can go... I made this photo a few weeks ago for a friend who drug me to Zumba. And I too thought I was getting good, until I looked in the mirror. =D

  62. haha . . . this really made me laugh. and why yes I like to believe I look exactly like that. after my first zumba class I was so excited to go home and try some of the moves I learned and I happen to do them in front of the mirror - only to crush my dreams when i realized I looked FAR from as good as I thought. : )

  64. Alycia! I just saw this post of yours and was CRACKING UP. Oh how I wish we coulda been 'blogging' friends sooner so we coulda done a joint post about our Zumba escapades! And btw, you did NOT look like Jim Carrey. You were a sexy beast out there gettin' your Zumba on. :) I'm going in next week (hopefully) to audition to teach at the 24-HR here, so when you come visit me in San Fran, you best believe there will be some Zumba baby (unless of course the 10 lbs i've gained over the last 3 weeks deters them from hiring me and turn my flabby bootie away. and then that would just be embarrrrrassing.). xoxoxo
