Body Pump!

At the end of November I decided to get myself out of the yo-yo rut I have been stuck in the past year. At the start of this year I was the heaviest I have ever been in my life. I had put on 15+ pounds and was basically eating whatever and as much as I wanted. I felt lethargic and gross. I was not living a healthy lifestyle, no matter how "good" people thought I looked. Unfortunately throughout the past year I have lost and gained weight back and forth, not being able to fully commit to that balance I am looking for. 

With the holidays approaching I have been incredibly nervous. Every holiday season I put weight on, and with not having lost the original weight gained, I just can't afford anymore this year! I have always been interested in eating whole or exploring with a paleo diet... and I have decided that this holiday season is going to be different! For once instead of gaining weight, I'm determined to lose some over the holidays! I have challenged myself to eat cleaner and maintain a consistent workout schedule.  

Earlier in the year I tried a class called body pump at my gym. I fell in love with it! Somehow I allowed myself to get "too busy" this summer and kind of forgot about it. After recommitting, I decided to go to the class again. Why did I stop going? No work out has ever made me feel so sore all over! I have always been a cardio girl, but I have always wanted to work out more with weights. I just want to be strong, and I can see my body changing in just a few weeks of doing body pump.

Body Pump is a weight-based group-fitness program, using free weight-plates, barbells, mixed with some floor work like push ups etc. What I love is that it targets major muscle groups, which are worked using compound and isolation-based exercises using squats, presses, and dead lifts. And you basically do several repetitions focusing on muscle endurance, which makes you want to die, HA! It burns, oooooh how those squats burrrrrrrn. So if you are looking for something to really change it up, and put your body through the ringer, check out a body pump class!

Anyone in Provo that goes to 24 should go every Monday and Wednesday! Gym buddies? Or maybe not, last time that worked out so great for me, ha.

  3. Ah I'm so glad you've been going to BP! I've been dying to get back to it, but my pregnant body is dying at the thought haha. Now that I know you've been going, maybe I will be a little more motivated to waddle to class :) Way to go girl!

  4. That sounds like a fun class. If I had a membership to 24 I would totally go with you and I promise it wouldn't end up like your last gym buddy experience. I think at the beginning of the year I'm going to be in need of a new gym membership. Do you mind me asking how much you pay at 24 hour? It would be so convenient...it's right down the street from my house.

    1. Hey Ashley! I got the membership through Costco which is significantly cheaper, however, you do have to pay it all upfront. It was worth it in my opinion!

  5. Best workout shirt ever! I want it!! I hear you on wanting to do more than just cardio. Cardio always discourages me and really assists in my NOT returning to the gym the next day. Good on you for finding something you like!

  7. I've been doing the whole yo yo thing myself for the past year, and it's terrible! I've been a little concerned about my weight over the Holiday's, as well. Isn't weight like the very last thing you want on your mind? I hate it! It's really good to take care of the bodies that God gave us, though, so I guess that's a great motivation to keep in mind :)

  8. Girl, I get exactly where you're coming from. I look normal (mostly), but I just feel so gross because I've stopped going to the gym regularly and I've been eating so disgustingly. Gah. Anyway, best wishes to you on that front!

    Also, haven't visited your blog in awhile... I love the new layout!!
