At the end of November I decided to get myself out of the yo-yo rut I have been stuck in the past year. At the start of this year I was the heaviest I have ever been in my life. I had put on 15+ pounds and was basically eating whatever and as much as I wanted. I felt lethargic and gross. I was not living a healthy lifestyle, no matter how "good" people thought I looked. Unfortunately throughout the past year I have lost and gained weight back and forth, not being able to fully commit to that balance I am looking for.
With the holidays approaching I have been incredibly nervous. Every holiday season I put weight on, and with not having lost the original weight gained, I just can't afford anymore this year! I have always been interested in eating whole or exploring with a paleo diet... and I have decided that this holiday season is going to be different! For once instead of gaining weight, I'm determined to lose some over the holidays! I have challenged myself to eat cleaner and maintain a consistent workout schedule.
Earlier in the year I tried a class called body pump at my gym. I fell in love with it! Somehow I allowed myself to get "too busy" this summer and kind of forgot about it. After recommitting, I decided to go to the class again. Why did I stop going? No work out has ever made me feel so sore all over! I have always been a cardio girl, but I have always wanted to work out more with weights. I just want to be strong, and I can see my body changing in just a few weeks of doing body pump.
Body Pump is a weight-based group-fitness program, using free weight-plates, barbells, mixed with some floor work like push ups etc. What I love is that it targets major muscle groups, which are worked using compound and isolation-based exercises using squats, presses, and dead lifts. And you basically do several repetitions focusing on muscle endurance, which makes you want to die, HA! It burns, oooooh how those squats burrrrrrrn. So if you are looking for something to really change it up, and put your body through the ringer, check out a body pump class!
Anyone in Provo that goes to 24 should go every Monday and Wednesday! Gym buddies? Or maybe not, last time that worked out so great for me, ha.
