Provo Halloween Half Marathon

1. Run another half marathon. (not ready to commit to another full marathon haha)

Well folks, I finally crossed off the number one on my list of twenty five before twenty five. To do another half marathon. I really didn't want to put this one on my list, but I knew I should. I do well when I have goals, and that especially is true when it comes to fitness goals. I have done a half marathon before, and a full marathon, and I didn't want to just say I was done with them because I had done one of each. So I made the goal to do another half this year, and I figured if I "had" to I should do a fun one. The Provo Halloween Half Marathon is one I had seen a few times since moving here and always thought it looked like a blast. I mean, costumes!! Need I say more?!

I didn't want to do it alone so I begged my friend Diana to do it with me. Diana has been killing it, and has lost over 70 pounds. She had been doing a lot of running so I asked her if she wanted to do the half with me. She was pretty hesitant, but I reassured her she was totally capable! I mean, she was already running around 5 miles daily. I bugged her and enoucagred her until finally she signed up to do it with me! A few weeks later my dear friend from childhood texted that she saw I was doing it and that she had signed up as well. I was pretty excited going into this with two great friends.

This run was so gorgeous. I can't really do it justice with words, or even pictures. But running in the mountains and gorgeous fall canyons with streams was pretty amazing. It is a pretty easy run too, with most of it being downhill. Together it made for my most enjoyable run to date! I highly recommend this run, especially for a first timer.

It was fun to dress up and also see all the costumes along the way. I had a few chuckles throughout the race seeing some crazy get ups. I didn't properly train for this race, which I knew was going to mean recovery would be horrible. And it has been, HA! I am sore, sore, sore. But that is what I get for not training but running like I had been. I did the first 6 miles in less then an hour, and I ended up getting above my target goal time. Which is great, but also why I have issues walking right now! But it was worth it! I got to enjoy the gorgeous route, and do it with two great friends :)

I also got to accomplish a goal wrapped up in my favorite holiday, HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE! Hope you have a great day :)

  14. I would love to run a half marathon someday! But most the time I just struggle running a 5K. I run alone mostly, so I don't know if it is just boring or what, but I love how I feel afterwards and would love to up my mileage somehow! What do you do to keep your mind off of how hard running can be?
