some pretty flowers from one of our impromptu lunch dates this week that brightened my day.
I don't know about you, but things have been going turbo speed in the Crowley household these days. Trevor is studying all day everyday until next Wednesday, and I have been super busy with work lately because it is Earth Month. Since Aveda is all about the environment, Earth Month is the busiest time of year for us. We have a ton of different events going on all month at the Institute to try and raise $14,000. We have already raised over $11,000, so we are doing pretty great, but to say I have a lot going on is an understatement!
What makes it even worse is that Trevor and I are both so busy right now, and this is our last time living in the same city for awhile. You may remember last year Trevor got an internship in Arizona and was gone for an entire month. Well a month looks like nothing now compared to Trevor's Summer Associate Position this summer.
Last fall Trevor was offered a Summer Associate Position at a firm in Vegas. We are very excited, it is a great opportunity, but it means he will be living in Vegas for the majority of the summer, and I will be here. So we have known for awhile now that we will be apart for the summer, and it is funny when I tell people this because they instantly ask why I am not moving to Vegas with him. Well you see when Trevor comes back someone still has to have a job and pay the bills! haha
It will suck, but we are looking at the positives. I am going to try and visit every other weekend. We are going to plan lots of fun dates for each time I am down and really take advantage of the fact that we will be in Vegas!
In a way I think we will probably go on way more intentional and fun planned dates then normal because of the absence and the fact we will be in a new city :) But even looking on the bright side it doesn't make me feel better that our last few weeks together will be spent studying for finals and working. I guess I can find comfort in the fact that after this we will never have to be apart again because of schooling! We have one more year of Law School to get through! Can you believe that? One more year?!
We have been trying to squeeze in lunch dates between all the chaos lately, so it has been nice to randomly see my husband in the daylight as opposed to just before we go to bed :) In some weird way, all of this has seemed to make us closer then ever. I don't want to say goodbye when May rolls around... :(
that is going to be really tough to be apart for a whole summer, but Vegas dates do sound like fun! one more year of law school will go by really fast! my husband is in his 4th year of post-college right now, and his classes will be over in a few weeks, so we're really excited. (although next is the dissertation for a couple years ah!) ;)

Its great that you only have one year left. I hope that you're able to get through the time apart. I don't know if I could for that long Hanna
ReplyDeleteYou're awesome for being the sugar momma still- even when it's hard!
ReplyDeleteWe've been to Vegas lots, and my BFF from college lives there, so I know lots of fun dates to do! Should you need any ideas feel free to hit me up :)
I will indeed hit you up!!!
DeleteOh I feel for you, that must be hard! But also so awesome that there's only one year left! Having special dates sounds like a good idea, gives you something to look forward to when the separation feels too tough.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness you poor thing :( this has to be difficult :( I guess y'all will have to look at the end point of being together again :) goodness, I was just complaining about being away from Tyker for 5 days.. I got nothin on y'all! Thinking about and praying for you!! Keep your eyes on the end :)
ReplyDeleteGirl....trust. You will grow WAY closer during this time. :) :) It's not easy, but it's not "hard". I did 6 straight weeks of not seeing Derek at all during his audtition rotations, but it made the time I did see him extra special, just like you said.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your attitude. Can you pass this on to other ladies who go through this?!
My husband and I have done this twice when we were moving to new states. He started a new job and I had to keep my old one until we could find renters for our house. Both times it was for about 3-4 months. It's tiring only seeing each other every other weekend (if that), but in so many ways it has made our relationship so much stronger! And you really learn to appreciate every little second you have together. Now that we are all settled and together again, it's like we are newlyweds all over again getting used to being together 24/7. I have to admit, it's kind of fun! :)
ReplyDeleteI totally understand the newlywed side of it! When he left for just one month we kind of got that back again!
DeleteWow! Congrats on the internship! That is no small feat!
ReplyDeleteI love this attitude about living apart. Fun dates ahead, for sure! My husband and I live on opposite coasts and it drives me crazy when people ask why I didn't move out there with him right away. I'm like, "I have to work, also!"
First, I miss your sun-shiney face at church today (even though I knew you weren't going to be there, it was still a bummer). Second, sors that Trevor will be gone, BUT another bright side is that you can come and watch Housewives/Sister Wives/Kardashians with me every weekday night!
ReplyDeleteSo this will have to HAPPEN! I mean, you are across the street. Why I don't just show up in my pj's on the regular is still a mystery. We will be making this happen for sure.
DeleteThis made me sad :( Hopefully this summer will just fly by! And if you want.... Mia and I can come up and stay with you one of the weekends that you're home. We can make it a fun girls weekend :)
ReplyDeleteANYTIME :)!
DeleteMy husband is military and we have been away for 15 months at the longest. It makes you grow so much stronger as a couple. All the little things that start to get on your nerves you miss. All the things that drive him crazy about you he can't wait for you to do again. It's like falling in love all over again when you are reunited. Good luck and I know you will make it through!
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking after I wrote this how dumb it sounds to complain about a summer when military families go years! I don't know how you guys do it, but I appreciate the sacrifice SO MUCH!
Deleteawww it was be fine.. It will make you guys stronger :O)
ReplyDeleteOh I do not envy you one bit! My husband had an internship after we had only been married a year and he was in CA for an entire summer while I had to stay in AZ. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done but I also have to say that it brought us so much closer when it was over. Let me know if you have any questions about tips on how to get through it or just support! Good Luck! It will be SO worth it when you have strengthened your marriage and he has a lot of job opportunities that others don't because he has more experience. :)
ReplyDeletetell trevor congrats on his internship! it's a bummer that you two will be apart but i love your outlook on it!
ReplyDeleteWhat can I add........nothing really.........so I will say the flowers are pretty and Vegas is a place I would like to visit one day but I doubt I ever will........lol
ReplyDeleteI love reading your blog for these type of posts, you are so brave to put your honesty out into the world.
ReplyDeleteHang in there! The good news is that he is closer and easier to get to this year :) I still think he needs to come to Canada with us :)
ReplyDeleteDistance is never fun. Vito & I did 9 months apart, with a few visits in between, and it was ridiculous. But it made our relationship so incredibly strong. We are about to do another 2.5 months apart that I'm not looking forward to. But when I see him at the end of the 2.5 months, we will be getting married. Focusing on the positives, like you are doing, is getting me through it. 8)
ReplyDeleteI live in Las Veagas! It's amazing down here! My aunt is also a lawyer down here & is one of the partners in her firm. It would be awesome to meet you!
