Oh where do I even start people?! This weekend it just what the Doctor ordered, I was seriously bored out of my mind the last week with Trevor gone. I was entertaining myself by watching way to much trashy reality t.v., what can I say, the stuff is addicting?!
This past weekend I went to the Breathing Space Blogging Retreat, held at Daybreak! I am so happy I decided to go to this retreat. Let me just say, this retreat sounded too good to be true, and it was amazing! A lot of blogging retreats can be expensive and it includes travel. When I saw the VERY reasonable pricing and accommodations that was apart of this retreat, I couldn't ignore it. Plus, I wouldn't have to get any work off for it, seeing it was right here in Utah, less then an hour away from me. Then when I saw a couple of other bloggers I have had the privilege of already meeting and have started to get to know better were going, I was SOLD.
As the weeks grew closer, I kept learning more and more about the retreat that got me even MORE excited! The sponsors of the event OUTDID themselves! Where to start?!
The retreat was full of fun classes we could attend together. Relaxing, enjoying ourselves, and networking was what this retreat was all about, and I did all three of those to the max! Well, maybe not so much relaxing... I was a little hyper and too busy trying to do everything for that, which means I was having a blast!
When I first arrived me and Savannah took a Cupcakes & Treats Baking class from THE founder of The Sweet Tooth Fairy! Don't know about the bakery?! Then you need to get out more! It is probably the most well known cupcake shop here in Utah, they have nine stores throughout a couple states, and they even were on Cupcake Wars the show and WON!
My cupcake turned out pretty good, no?! I am pretty proud of my icing technique!
Me with THE Sweet Tooth Fairy :)
Megan Faulkner Brown was sweet to the max! No pun intended - and so down to earth! I learned some great tips, and can't wait to get to making some cupcakes :)
Then I went to a Cooking Class with The Food Nanny. This class just blew me away! This woman is exactly who I want to be when I grow up :) Liz Edmunds has a zest for life, and passion for teaching, and talking haha and being with people, she just lit up a room! I had never heard of her before but apparently she has a t.v. show on BYU TV! She inspired me to be better about making a variety of meals for me and Trevor, and to get into good habits now with meal plans, and making clean food from scratch for my family. I am totally buying her book, no question there, and am going to start implementing all of her amazing suggestions! I was taking notes down like a crazy person when she talked... simply amazing!
To top off an already amazing first day, we ended the night with a "Stepford Wives" themed dinner party! The outfits were just darling people, darling. I was loving every "Mad Men" inspired minute of it! I was more of a modern twist on the amazing fashion of the 50's and 60's but I think my outfit still fit :) I tried to bump my hair, haha where is my sister-in-law when I need her?! haha It was such a fun night. A woman who had been on the show Survivor was there that night and spoke to us! I think I need to go watch her season now or something :) Daybreak also made an announcement about a Blogger Built DIY House they are going to make, which I can't wait to see! We ended the evening dancing outside, and staying up until 3 in the morning chatting! We got to stay in the model homes, which was such a treat. We had such a gorgeous house, fun girls, great food and a great night!
Such a marvelous night, and great event! Can't wait to share the second day :)
