sing a little tune.

The other day the song "Firework" by Katy Perry came on. I told Trevor how this was one of Sydney's (our niece) favorite songs. It made us smile, and we started talking about what was the earliest favorite song we could remember having. We both then got on you tube and shared our favorite songs with each other. It was pretty fun :)

Mine was a toss up between these two...

I love You, Always Forever - Donna Lewis

Or
I couldn't find the official music video on youtube, so I thought p.s. I love you in the background would suffice :)

As I Lay Me Down - Sophie B. Hawkins

Trevor's favorite was...

Jungle Land - Bruce Springsteen

Do you guys remember one of your first favorite songs?

  2. Isn't if funny how different your favorite songs are? Yours being such girly love songs, and his being some old school rock n' roll? Love it.

From as long as I can remember its been Toto-Africa and Don Henley-The Heart of the Matter.

And actually, those two songs continue to be some of my favorite.

  8. Yup! Those first two are definitely on my list :) I have a lot of early childhood songs like that. Including, Semi-Charmed Life by Third Eye Blind, which I thought was "semi-colon" for the longest time... Oh to be young again!

  11. Whenever I here those songs on the radio or anywhere else I always think of you. One of them is my 'happy' song remember? I love Bruce Springsteen also. I don't have time to write my first memory of a song I'll do that after I get home. I LOVE music and always have. I would listen to record after record and started doing that religiously when I was only about 8 yrs. old. I listened to music a lot before that also but not as religiously. Music helped me through some hard times when I was growing up even at a very young age. I can't imagine my life without music. I love a lot of different genres - and of course there are some I don't like at all :) Thanks for a fun post :)

  12. I think the Always forever song will be stuck in my head the rest of the day. I remember Spice Girls having my first favorite songs, and that Barbie Girl one by Aqua.

  16. Great songs! I feel like certain songs will put me right back in a certain memory. As far as first favorite songs - I don't really remember, because I used to listen to the radio at night, and so I knew all the words to most of the songs and liked most of them : ) A couple favorites: "Head Over Feet" by Alanis Morrissette, anything Billy Joel, and "Oh What a Night" by...who? I thought it was about a couple's first dance, but I guess it's up to interpretation - let's go with my little kid perspective : ) Thanks for checking out my blog, by the way!

  19. Ah! I Love You, Always and Forever, has been my mom and I's song since forever! She always said it was because of the part that says "You've got the most unbelievably blue eyes I've ever seen" and she'd sing that part to me all the time :) LOVE that song.

  20. My niece LOVES the Firework song. So cute. And I'd have to say for first song that I remember...it'd have to be one of Madonna's. Perhaps "Like a Prayer"? Classic.
