roller coaster.

I haven’t posted that much this week, sorry about that. Things have been a little hectic here at work, and with Trevor embarking on Finals. Every once in awhile I get into what I like to call a "blogging funk." A blogging funk is where I step back and realize there is something not aligning up the way I want it to when it comes to my blog and blogging.

I remember earlier this year I was so swamped with school before graduating that I had NO spare time. Keeping up with my blog became too much, and doing it because I "had" to took the fun out of it. So I stopped blogging for two whole months. I re-charged and came back after the stress of the end of my Bachelors Degree. I just needed that break.

This time around it isn't a break that I need, but more of a direction. This blog started out as a place for me to document about my life, the everyday even mundane things that Trevor and I do together. It was intended to be about my family and for my family. Along the way, I got sucked into the creative world that blogging can bring. Fashion, Crafts, Design, and must say, I love all of it. However... I think I have lost a bit of the true intent of this blog. I still will and want to post about fashion, and the creative things I am apart of... but I want to blog more about me and Trevor again. I really feel like that aspect of the blog has been missing for awhile, and I want to change that.

I guess you could say I feel like I am in blog limbo land right now.

Blogging can be like that, well life can be like that. You think you have a direction and you hit a high, or a low and it can leave you confused. I wouldn’t say I am confused, I know what I want to do, and I just need to implement the changes.

I have been trying to simplify my life, and I want to bring that goal into to my blog as well. So expect some changes around these parts in the near future. Nothing major, just trying to stream line all of ideas. I am excited to have some more simple organization to my blog, where I can have a better balance of all the things I love about blogging and my blog in particular.

I want to “do it all,” without losing the balance of all the things I love, without losing myself in it. So please be a little patient with me in the next week or so :) Cheers!

  1. I agree. I don't like to see blogs lose personality and just become a place to sell stuff or to blog fashion or projects or whatever. I think it's so important to keep it personal.

p.s. if you need to relieve some stress, guest posting is a perfect way! I would so be down for that if you ever need someone :)

    Good luck with everything!

  2. i totally know what you mean. i'm a year into blogging and although i'm not "popular" (i could give less about it, i blog for me anyways) i've been so busy with school lately and i feel like posting is something i have to do instead of something i want to do. like you, i started my blog to document things and be able to look back on this crazy time in my life. i started school in september and it's a pretty demanding program (nothing like trevor's tho) and i can't seem to find the balance. no one wants a post that says "today i wrote a midterm. tomorrow i write another. friday i hand in a paper. i had an anxiety attack over it. life is crazy." haha.

sorry for the novel, just wanted to say i totally know where you're coming from.

  3. Oh yes I had to take a short break not long ago, I just couldn't bring myself to write, and you are right it was like I was blogging because I felt I HAD to. Now I just do it when I want and for fun.

  4. I love this and can totally relate to it. I recently had to "re-focus" myself and remind myself what the purpose of my blog is. I agree that it is very hard to not get caught up in the other parts of blogging.

  6. I go through the same thing when I see I get like 1 comment ever and my husband has to remind me "do you do that so a bunch of people you know will comment on how cool you are or for you and your family and to document about our life?!" then i remember why I do it. Get outta your funk and back to blog world! I love reading what you have to say!

  9. ahhh! I have been feeling EXACTLY the same way! It is such a relief to hear that someone else, who happens to be a favourite blogger of mine (aka you!) is going through it too! Awareness about this is so key, good for you for realizing it and writing about it

  12. That is the reason I have 2 blogs (the private one where I write every detail of every day for my family, and then the everybody one which is more fun, but still about us just not as detailed). I will always enjoy reading your blog. Good luck to Trevor on finals! I know Seth is bogged down with studying too!

  22. The ups and downs of writing and blogging definitely can feel like a roller coaster. It is really interesting for me to see what people with my similar interests and blog styles do with their own content... Sometimes it feels like I have so much to say that I can't quite reel myself into any specific categories... Frustrating, when all you want to do is share everything you love and find fun! But right now I'm on the part of the roller coaster where I just put my hands up in the air and let myself go along for the ride;)

  23. I think so many of us can relate to that. I felt like I lost my direction last year and ended up taking SIX months off, ha! Law school was pretty distracting too :) You'll find your groove!

And good luck to your man with finals! I promise that with each semester they get exponentially easier :)

  24. Totally agree! It is very easy to get caught up in the world of blogging & take on new additions to the blog.. but it is always good to go back to why the blog was started :) & I love more personal blogs about relationships, its why I set up ours too.

Hope you check ours out? www.whatwegandidnext.com

  25. I feel the same way! First of all, I rarely have time to blog b/c of school, work, and the rest of my life! But secondly, I spend a lot of time wishing and trying to be like other bloggers, and then I suddenly realize that the whole point of my blog was to talk about my walk with the Lord and that I don't do that as often as I should or would like to. I'm trying to get back to my roots as well! Best of luck! I look forward to the change. :)

  26. I definitely feel ya. My issue is keeping at least a few of those fun posts in there that people like to read so much without losing the personal posts. I feel like Sarah at Once Upon A Lime, and Ashley at Hudson's Happenings do it so well. Maybe I should take some lessons from them...
