curly hair tutorial.

I have had lots of questions about my curly hair, and how I do it. First, I just have to say how flattered I am, and this is why (here is a little background on my hair). It didn't really come in until I was about 10. You think I am joking? Soon I will post some pics of what I looked like as a kid. I was born as bald as they come, and my hair took forever to grow. My hair wasn't long enough to do pony tails, braids or anything fun... so my mom would had me wear new born headbands. Yup. Or the infamous "waterfall" hairdo where she would grab whatever I had on my head and put it together and clip it. Yes, a simple clip could hold ALL of my hair together. I didn't get my first hair cut until I was about 8 I think? &I didn't even really need it, I just wanted one so bad, to feel more normal and like I fit in, haha. Like a GIRL!

My hair still takes forever to grow, and to give you an idea, it was a short aline cut when I met Trevor, and I haven't cut it since I met him (excluding trims).... That is THREE years people! Three years and this is how long my hair is? So it has been a long journey, me and my hair... and I just got to say, I am excited anyone ever even noticed it. It has been 22 years of trying to "make it work" and I think we might be getting there.

  13. We are definitely kindred hair spirits, well except for the bald part. I was dentally challenged instead. Took me forever to get teeth and then later to lose my baby teeth. :)

    Here's my hair tutorial:

  14. Alycia,

Hello from Alberta!! I haven't seen you for years and love reading your blog. Your mom told me about it awhile ago.
I remember when you would come to visit and would brush your hair saying you were getting a haircut. It was so adorable.
    Lots of love

  16. You have no idea how helpful this was!!! I have very fine, thin hair, too, so I am always looking for new ways to style it to make it look better. When I use a curling iron, I always end up looking like Shirley Temple. I'm so going to try this this weekend. Thanks, girl!!! :o)

  35. Loved the vlog...our hair is SO different. I have TONS of THICK hair. It's really way too much. I would gladly give you some if you ever wished for more and if only it was that simple! ;) I think this may work for my hair, but I would probably need way more product and I would have to separate into about 18 sections! haha! but seriously...

  49. oh my goodness. i just started following you and i am obsessed. this hair tutorial is the best and i just LOVE your top and your necklace. i've got some fun things coming up next month and, like we all do, i have been shopping like crazy looking for the perfect outfit but i couldn't find anything and then i saw THIS....so cute! i wanna have it!

p.s. i was bald as anything till i was almost 3 and then i just got little white blond whispies. my husband was the same way and now our son? you guessed it. nothing but fuzz. the other day somebody actually asked me if he was doing chemo! how awful is that?

  50. I remember how my parents once said that I was a bald baby and we have photo evidence but for some reason I my hair is really heavy and thick, sometimes when I put it in a bun it makes my neck hurt...At least there's one thing I love about myself! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  51. That's how I curl my hair too but I never knew the trick of brushing out and then pulling on the sections to make them unfuzzy! That's great. And seriously, you are so cute in your vlog! It makes me love your blog even more.
