So we live in an incredibly small apartment. It also happens to be in the basement of a house, so we don't have a lot of windows. Our oven also sucks.... but what doesn't suck is our smoke detectors. They are very very sensitive to say the least. Whenever we decide to broil something, the oven creates an abnormal amount of smoke. The thing is, nothing seems to really even be burning! Yet there is enough smoke that could make people think our place is being engulfed in flames. Well the other day Trevor was making steaks, and he broiled them. Lo and behold our apart was full of smoke with in minutes of him opening the oven. Not just one but all three of our smoke alarms went off. These suckers are LOUD, and they do not turn off easily. You have to fan like a crazy person! Because we don't have a lot of windows opening them didn't help much. We had the door open but it was freezing cold outside. So the image here is... me and Trevor frantically destroying magazines as we ferociously wave them back and forth in front of the smoke alarm. By now we are cold, our arms are tired,  our ears hurt, and it seems like there is more and more smoke because I can't breath. This lasted for about 10 minutes and I am pretty sure we freaked the neighbors out...haha. So lesson is? Why do we ever need to go to the gym? We can just get a great work out right before we eat our streak :)

P.S. So I am wishing I lived Malibu. My brother lives there and runs into celebrities all the time. It isn't that I love celebrities or anything, but it would be cool to run into someone I truly am a fan of their work. For example today my brother ran into Katy Perry at the bank! Just a typical day for him... haha.

    our apartment is the same way. you cant use the oven or the stove or the griddle or ANYTHING without our smoke alarms going off!

    I hateee that! The community i workin is very old and the apartment appliances suck so their smoke alarms are contantly seeting off, and half the time it sets off the entire community smoke alarms! ughhh! the shreaiking shrill drives me nuts, and the fire department hates the false alarms :/
    and i agree, Malibu would be nice :)

    Our smoke alarms & oven don't get along either. Just preheating the oven can set off the alarms...

    Slightly dangerous tip: cover the smoke alarms with plastic bags when cooking. do NOT forget to uncover afterward!

    I had an apartment like that the steam from the shower even set it off!! I am terrified now even in a much bigger house wehen anything gets smokey that I am going to set it off!

    What a great outfit! I wish I could pull those boots off. In my previous house, we had a super sensitive fire alarm, too. I mean, you would look at it wrong and it would start blaring. Not. Fun.

    Love your outfit! and the smoke alarm story is so funny. In my old house before I moved a year ago there was a smoke alarm right outside of the bathroom door and it seemed like every night me or one of my sisters would set the smoke alarm off from taking a hot shower. I swear the shower wasn't even that hot it was just a sensitive alarm. Anyway, no smoke alarms outside of the bathroom in the new house!

    I love your outfit- you are gorgeous, as usual! Our first apartment was the same way...probably the alarms wouldnt go off for an actual fire but when we cooked, without fail, it went off! That okay girl- someday we will all live in mansions and not have to worry about it;-)

    So something happened..and my original comment didn't post. LAME.

    Hahaha. Too funny. We actually lived in a house that had really sensitive fire alarms. There was a fire alarm located right outside of our bathroom door. So every time we showered (twice a day usually-once for me and once for the hub), and opened up the door afterwards, the fire alarm would go off because of the steam. STEAM! On top of that the noise from the fire alarm was shrill enough that it made our dog freak out. So every time the fire alarm went off he would start howling right along with it. I'm sure we sounded like a bunch of crazy people in the mornings. :)

    There could be something stuck to your broiler that is causing it to smoke. Try some oven cleaner?
