So Easter weekend Trevor told me he had somewhere he wanted to take me for breakfast/lunch so really I guess it was brunch. I was excited and was pleasantly surprised to see we we going to this really cool Belgium waffles and fries place. I instantly thought of my dad (who served a two year mission in Belgium) and how much he would have liked to have come with us. In down town Salt Lake there are some really cool old streets and shops and we have passed this place a dozen times and have said we should go there... and we finally were! OHHHH my was it amazing :) the fries or shall I say, La Frites tasted pretty dang spot on as they did when I had them oh just 3 times a day in Belgium and Holland, along with the sauces they had for dipping. It was an interesting mix having fries with waffles but I wasn't complaining. My waffle was, perfection. It was a vanilla waffle with fresh strawberrys and this to DIE for homemade whip cream.... I have never had anything so rich and thick and sugar and yummines before! Trevor had the amazing whip cream with a chocolate sauce. What a great afternoon with the hubberz, and so sweet for wanting to do something nice for me with a surprise to a place we have always talked about going to.
Trevor excited and getting started!
Trevor really wants to try the Gun Sandwich next time we go. He said they have something very similar to it in South Africa (where he served his mission)
Me stuffing my face (please excuse the undone Saturday morning frizzy hair okkkkkkay)
yummmmmm

ReplyDeleteI lived there for 7 years myself so I'm quite picky when it comes to eating a "belgian waffle" anywhere outside of Belgium. Still haven't found anything remotely close! ANd of course...you'll never find french fries the same..what a great time you two had!!
I am so jealous. I want to go there. Just a few weeks and we can.
