is that a costume?

Two days down for the 30 for 30, so far so good right? I know I have been slow on posting these, I promise I will be doing more then one a week, haha.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So the hubberz is still learning. I guess he never got advice from someone that said, just LIE to your wife if you don't think she looks good, HA. I thought I was the type of woman who could handle the truth, but the thing is, I didn't even ask! Here is the break down so you guys understand what the heck I am talking about...
Alycia walks out in her new high waisted bell bottom pants. Pants she has seen around and loves, and has been trying to be daring enough to buy a pair. She found some, was feeling brave, so she bought them. She feels a little self-conscious in them as it is. I mean just cause they look good on other people doesn't always mean they will look good on you. I learned that with the ray ban optical glasses.
Husband sees wife in these said pants, and gives her a funny look. Then says...
Hubberz: Those pants you are wearing are ugly.
Me: Oh um thanks, that was really nice!
Hubberz: Well they just look like they are straight out of the 70's.
Me: Well I guess that is kind of the point of them.
Hubberz: Well it looks like you are wearing a costume, about to go to a 70's party. If that's the look you were going for then, yeah....
Me: Hey I really like these pants! &if you knew anything about clothes you would know they are coming back!
Hubberz: They are coming back? (still not convinced)

This is where I get a little pouty, because what girl wants to feel like they are dressed ugly when going out on a date with their husband?
Hubberz notices the sad face.
Hubberz: Why are you sad? I never said you looked bad, I said the pants did. Like you said I don't know anything about clothes, why listen to me?
Trevor imitates the sad face while saying, I am sorry, your beautiful.

The hubberz is still not convinced these jeans are not a costume.

At the end of the day, I have been trying to be more daring when it comes to my clothes and style. There are so many things that I have liked in the past, but was too scared to try. I am no longer going to let that happen. If I like something, I am going to get it, and wear it proudly. I love these pants, even if my husband thinks I look like I am off That 70's Show. Plus I love the 70's :)

  1. Husbands never know anything about what's in style! My husband hated so many things at first - boots over jeans, belts around the waist, statement necklaces, hair parted down the middle (he might still a little), but he gets used to it all. I try not to care either! But before I even read this post, I saw the pictures and thought how HOT you look in those jeans. Seriously, they were made for you. You look amazing!

  4. You pull off that look so well. Makes me want a hat!

  5. Hahaha my husband says similar things. He's worn the same camo shorts and white t-shirts for years because he insists that the look is 'timeless' and never goes out of fashion. Like he cares about fashion... :)

  8. I think they are darling and hello your legs look a mile long in them! Sometimes I tell my hub I wish he were a little more metro so he could help me out more than he currently does when I ask which shoes or whatever looks better with my outfit. ha ha.

  16. My Dad used to always do the SAME thing too. My husband just always says things look nice even when I am doubtful...which is why I miss living with girls sometimes even though it is endearing.

My Mom totally wore a pair of pants like that in the 70s when she was in college. I say...if they look good (which they do) wear them!

Before I even read the post I was going to comment on how much I loved the jeans!

  20. haha. That same thing happens to me. The other day I was wearing a cute shirt and tied a knot in the front, Kendi style, and my husband goes.. are you going to wear your shirt like that, it looks like your trying to make it a belly shirt? (It was way cute, and totally modest.. absolutely no belly showing for this girl. lol) I proceeded with the discouraged pouty face until he gave his complete support of the knot in the shirt. I promise, it looked good. And even if it didn't, I liked it, so I am glad I wore it.

  34. the male population is the worst at knowing what looks good and what doesn't. my boy loves to wear his plaid shorts with a striped shirt. a no-no in my book! :-)
